Hi there! I'm so glad you liked the game so far, your feedback means a lot. As far as the yandere, the game isn't a traditional yandere, however the three main characters (Iris, Seth, The Dust Hunter) are capable of killing their love interest. We used the yandere tag to define this and appeal to people who are interested in darker romance, which is very much Garden of Seif.

*Spoilers below*

There are happy endings, and then there are death endings. Seth may pretend to like you, but he does have an ending where he chooses to kill you.

The Dust Hunter has a killer ending, and there's also an ending where Iris kills him.

Even the killer endings blur the line between enemies and romance, as the love interests (and even the MC) have feelings for the person they are destroying. This is shown the strongest in Seth's killer end.

Hi there,

I am sorry that is happening for you.

First I want to say that Steam has a 2 hour window for you to refund the game, so if you played for more than 2 hours than they won't initiate a refund. I just wanted to let you know before you launch the game again in case we aren't able to solve this. I am not sure what itch.io's policy is for returns, but they may be more lenient.

Now as far as troubleshooting: screen flickering typically occurs due to incompatibility between your system and the game itself. I would need to know more about your PC specs. Garden of Seif can be more graphic heavy than other visual novels due to the cinematic scenes.

The issue could be your screen refresh rate. If the refresh rate isn't synchronized with your video card, It can cause a flickering image. https://www.coolblue.nl/en/advice/set-up-refresh-rate-monitor.html

This reddit post has some other recommendations:

Let me know if any of these help.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! I am so glad you enjoyed the twists, we had a fun time writing them.

You are the second person to mention the idea of Iris as a love interest, that's not something we ever thought of before! We have toyed with the idea of adding The Emerald Huntress as an LI for Iris one day.

This was an interesting and nicely written. I enjoyed your emphasis on how important it is to be sincere and how you genuinely want to help other indie devs.

"But how the hell could you, let alone myself, go through with doing something so corporate?" This sentence interested me and I have heard something along these lines before. If I line this up with my current marketing work, one could argue that I posted content with the intent of gaining a playerbase and thus gaining customers, which may be perceived as corporate. As a mostly solo indie dev, this might be more forgiven, however I wont deny that my personal goal is to make a living doing what I love. I believe that I can my game can bring people joy, and that makes it valuable. Having a product that I believe can bring entertainment to someone's life makes it worth selling (and this can even apply to a game that is free and is simply marketed with the intent of gaining players).

I love my game and therefore I want to share it with others, which is what makes me find joy in marketing. I come from a background of content creation in entertainment, so I believe this may be part of why marketing is something I can embrace.

I've never had a huge player base, so I can only imagine how scary it'd be to have a swarm of negative Steam reviews or worse. There is always a risk to putting yourself out there.

For me, the risk of putting myself out there is far less scary than the risk and thought of my game never seeing the light of day.

Hope this helps!

YOU ARE AWESOME!

Hi there! I'm sorry, there is currently only the Digital Guide Book merch from Kickstarter available on our website. I am considering posting that guide book on here and possibly Steam.

I am going to be posting a simple, free guide soon so that everybody has the opportunity.

There's the true end, and then he has one more happy ending beside that.

Ahh I am so happy you liked it! He technically has two happy endings too, but one of them is a little bit of a surprise :)

Hi! Yes, the full game is now available. :)

It's no trouble at all. Please email me at foxdriftstudios@gmail.com so I can get this figured out for you. :)

Thank you for your encouragement! And thank you for the wishlist, it helps a lot!

We'll be doing our best🧡

Thank you! The full game will not be free.

Thank you! Kickstarter backers are receiving the full game this April, and it will be released to the public soon after that, but an exact date hasn't been announced yet.

Hi! :)

That's so kind of you, thank you for supporting our game in any way you can! <3

Hi! Don't be sorry, I can explain :D Kickstarter is all or nothing, so if we don't reach the initial funding goal of $9300 USD then we won't receive any of the funding. This also means that anyone who pledged will not be charged, rewards won't be received, etc.

The game development will not stop if the goal isn't reached, but since I am a solo dev things get complicated without funding for a project of this scope. I'm going to make an announcement on the matter soon.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give such wonderful feedback! The way you have described the story is exactly how I wanted readers to perceive it. I will definitely need to polish the description better so that other potential players will know more about the story right away. I'm glad you liked it and I hope you will enjoy the next chapters as well!

Thank you for your feedback!

It's not certain yet, but we will probably keep it at a total of three chapters, with the next two chapters being much longer than the first one.

Yes, the cards lead to the two different routes :)

Hi! Since our original demo release in 2020, we have enabled the option for players to donate. It is appreciated by not required at all, and you can simply choose "no, thanks take me to the downloads." (If this option is not showing for you, please let me know and I will get that sorted out.) It's unfortunate that itch.io is very tricky with their placement of the donation button and I wish that it was less deceptive.

As a small studio led by myself, this project has been self-funded for many years.  I did not know if I would launch a Kickstarter, and it was only going to happen if we felt far enough in development, which is now. Donating on itch.io has no relation to the upcoming Kickstarter.

I hope this response clarifies the situation for potential players. I stand by the notion that demos should be free and that was the intention of the Garden of Seif demo, so I hope this doesn't make anyone feel inclined to donate.

I want players to have the option to freely play the demo and see what it has to offer because I think the demo as is will show that the full game is worth purchasing.

Curse of Gravehollow Peaks is a standalone side story with the some of the same characters from the main game. You do not have to play the main game (Chronicles of an Assassin) in order to understand anything since each are their own story. Curse of Gravehollow was just made for fun while we develop the big game! Hopefully that makes sense :)

Thank you for your wonderful comment! :)

Thank you so much for the feedback! :D

Thank you for your feedback! :)

The main game of Garden of Seif will be on Steam. We will have to wait and see if side stories like Curse of Gravehollow Peaks will make it to Steam too.

Thank you for the feedback, so glad you enjoyed it! :)

That's awesome, thanks for following along! :)

Thank you! That's awesome to hear you would gift it to a friend! :)

Yep, that's the plan.

I can tell this is going to be a masterpiece, your writing is simply amazing and the characters are so intriguing! I am dying to know more about the Nightmare Prince. ;) Good luck with your Kickstarter!

So glad you enjoyed it!

So glad you loved it!

Thank you! We are so happy to hear that!

Yes we are (: We will be making an announcement soon. Thank you for your support!

Woohoo! So glad to here that this project is still in development!

Hi! We plan to have the full version downloadable for a price. We haven't decided on what the price will be just yet.

Hi! I'm in love with the story, it's beautiful and creative. That opening scene has to be the most gorgeous intro I've ever seen. The entire demo itself clearly demonstrates high attention to detail. I like all the little animations and the character's have... character. Haha. Even the MC, and usually I worry about novels that have a "build your MC's personality" kind of direction. I know some people prefer that, but I think it can be tricky to pull off and for me to personally enjoy it, but I think you've done well so far.

As far as feedback, I think the only thing that really stood out to me was the changing of the soundtracks. It felt rather abrupt. I feel as though there are some intances where an abrupt change works, but most times I would reccommend fading the music out at least a few sentences before the next track begins.

Great work! I can tell you devs put your all into this. Good luck, and I look forward to the extended demo as well as the full version! :)
