The turret design looks great. And I like the fact that the bottom part of the turret remains there after destroying it. I think if you add more enemies and unique behaviors that’s a very simple way to boost your combat mechanics, it can also give you ideas of new abilities for the player that can take down such attacks. As a player, I’d be more interested in a game that is very challenging rather than too simple

Update:
We have some new information about that jam we want to share with you.
We talked to Yahaha and have agreed to allow devs to make MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS for this upcoming jam that delivers $30 to you for each qualifying jam (as long as we hit that 10+ submission goal). So if you’re up for it, you can try to make 3 qualifying entries for $90 but of course you need to do all the steps for each game. We turned the jam to unranked because this jam is not about being competitive and being the best but to finish games and try a new engine.
The more submissions we get, the more funding the organization gets to fund even more game jams. If you guys want us to do more of these jams where essentially you can get free money, we also need your support.
So invite your friends, help each other out. The Yahaha team is here to answer your questions too, and let’s get jamming very soon: https://itch.io/jam/fia-x-yahaha-3-day-jam-available-for-everyone
Update:
We have added a new policy (more like a reminder and clarification) for Sponsor Disclaimers, here it is:
- YAHAHA does not claim ownership of Entries, however, except where prohibited, by participating in the campaign, entrant grants Yahaha and its agents an irrevocable right and license in perpetuity to publish, use, edit, adapt, and/or modify any or all of the content in an Entry that was created or contributed to by Entrant without the need for further approval, in whole or in part, in any way, in any and all media throughout the world, and to associate the Entry with Entrant's name, likeness, and biographical information, without limitation and without compensation for the purposes of announcing winners, showcase and marketing promotion associated to the campaign. Entrant agrees that Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any unauthorized use of Entries by third parties.
-----------------
I'm now going to break it down for you just to put it in more simple terms to know what this all means and what this means for your game that you submit to our jam; this is mainly for the people who are concerned about why you are required to give Yahaha access to your game's itch page when you submit:
- Ownership: Yahaha does not claim ownership of your game (referred to as "Entries").
- License Granted: By participating in the campaign, you grant Yahaha and its agents an irrevocable, perpetual license to:
- Publish, use, edit, adapt, and modify any or all content in your game entry.
- Use your entry in any media worldwide.
- Associate your entry with your name, likeness, and biographical information.
- Purpose: The granted license is for:
- Announcing winners.
- Showcasing and marketing promotions related to the campaign.
- Unauthorized Use: Yahaha is not responsible for any unauthorized use of your entry by third parties (basically if your itch gets hacked, you can't blame them)
In summary, while you retain ownership of your game, Yahaha and its agents have extensive rights to use, modify, and promote your game and associate it with your personal information without further approval or compensation. But if you guys have any questions and concern, reach out on the discord.
Hello everyone,
Future Inspire Academy is excited to team up with Yahaha for our next game jam. It will be a three-day game jam starting on July 19th and ending on the 22nd. This is more of a casual game jam. We will still have a first place winner that can take home $40, but everyone else still has a chance to easily earn $30 just by creating a game using the Yahaha game engine and following some requirements. We will really appreciate the support the game development community can give us as more submissions is going to help the organization in funding too.
Our deal with Yahaha to give each qualifying participant $30 is only active if we hit 10 or more submissions so we need your help to spread the word. If we don't reach this goal, we will only have one winner.

Hello community,
Future Inspire Jam is hosting our sixth game jam! We have made a ton of improvements after the last jam and we are excited to share them with you. We have reworked everything from how we advertise to balancing complexity to designing cleaner jam pages.
This will be a casual game jam with no limitations on the engine and tools you use. The winning team will earn $25 and each member will receive an asset of their choice from our sponsor and past Unity Asset Award Winner, Kronnect!
If we hit over 500 ratings during our public voting period, we will add an extra $25 to award the winning team!

As always, we will continue to update this forum as we receive questions from members and change things. Thank you to the community for your support, and as always, happy jamming!
This is public voting, which means that participants can get their friends to vote too if they want. It doesn't necessarily mean that developers are just creating alt accounts. The mistake with this jam is that I didn't put a requirement to hit a certain amount of ratings before unlocking the $25 prize (we did so in the last jam a gained over 500 ratings) so that's something I'll definitely bring back. But I will say this.
The community voting is simply to engage more of my members who didn't participate in the jam and promote the organization as a whole. We put a small prize of $25 just for fun and to make more people inclined to promote, but this prize pool shouldn't be something to really complain about or be competitive for because I didn't need to add this prize in the first place if I didn't want to. One reason we are doing public voting is simply because we don't have enough members to make developer only voting very effective. There's always going to be the people who say that public voting is "unfair" which is why it doesn't count for the actual prize. This is just supposed to be a period for fun and to give another developer a chance to win. If you haven't already, please also join the discord because communication there is faster
Update:
Wanted to clarify something that was asked in our community forum over on our jam page. Someone asked if they had to use UModeler X for the texturing and then it dawned on me that I never specified fully of what " use UModeler X to make your 3D game" meant. Our goal is to have every participant try UModeler and use it to make their 3D assets and models. Because we never specified that you must use UModeler for texturing, we will allow all members to use other software and free assets for their materials. Again, we only require you to use UModeler for the base model and the coloring, rigging, and all other things can be done through other software if that makes the process easier for you.
Sorry for not being specific enough in the rules! You may use any tool to make your textures if that is easier for you. We’ll make an announcement about this, but you are only restricted to UModeler for the 3D models themselves. Also to get more questions answered faster consider joining our discord because that’s where everything happens first
Just wanted to put a message out here. This competition is a unique one for us and is obviously more restrictive than our usual jams that we host. But as a result of this, these types of jams are much less competitive. That means if you participate and create some kind of game that meets the requirements, you have a pretty good chance of winning.
You can come check out one of the games on our server in the jam-devlogs. He is using UModeler X to make very simple 3D models. Nothing complex is needed; you can certainly get by with just basic modeling of rectangles, cyclinders, spheres, and maybe a combination of all of them. Try it out and you might be surprised with the results.
Thanks to one of our members suggesting, we decided to make our FIA Game Jam banner public and available for the community to add it on the splash page of your game jam games. Reminder that this is not required by any means but now its an option for anyone participating that is interested in giving us a shoutout.
Let me know if anything goes wrong in the drive, but for now, here it is: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ers9IFAw6_B0I8xW3Q1yOsX-KfYJDU06?usp=sharing
Update:
We just released our FIA Game Jam transparent banner for you guys to add it on the splash page of your game jam games. This is not required by any means but now its an option for anyone participating that is interested in giving us a shoutout. We will have the drive folder containing the banner on our jam page and in our server
Update:
Just wanted to share some cool news that we are featured on UModeler's blog post! You can check it out here: https://docs.umodeler.com/blog/May-26th-2024-blog/
It's always fun to see our organization's growth and how we are able to be recognized in the world outside of our own promotions. Thank you to Jaesik (CEO of UModeler) for this post and congrats to UModeler's other accomplishments this week. Wanted to share this not only because we are proud of the exposure we are getting from other companies but also to show you guys that our organization is slowly but surely getting more known in the world, which has always been the dream.
Just going to keep the community aware that if you are looking for team members to participate in our jam, you can head over to our server (linked on the jam page). We are getting a good amount of discussions about this in the community section of the jam page. We try to answer all the questions there, but obviously, you can get the info much quicker and get communication way easier by joining our server where we post the updates there first.
Usually we post announcements and updates on the server, and then we try to repost on our old server (still trying to migrate everyone from there) and then we might post here. There can be a delay of possibly one or two days from the server to here so urgent questions should always go to discord.
But if you're just trying to have casual conversations, totally cool with me to talk here.
Update:
This time we're locking submissions the entire rating period so you must make sure your submission is good to go before the deadline ends. However, you can edit your submission before the submission deadline in case you submitted early but have a better version. There will be no exceptions, so make sure the game is what you want it to be!
We allowed it last time for a brief moment but this time there will not be any sort of grace period to update the game.
Note: This does not mean it's impossible to submit late. Late submission links should still work. There will still be our 12 hour grace period but once you submit you will be locked in and we won't allow you to change. We had some problems with this last time and it raised concerns about the fairness of the jam so we are being more strict about this.
Just on the server linked on the jam page. It'll take you right to our organization and you'll be able to get in touch with me and get mentoring whenever you need it. I've helped people in the past level up their Unity game development skills to a place where they feel comfortable going off on their own
