Hey, maybe making a thread here will keep me accountable, although I know we got a week left.

I messed around in stencyl the first few days, realized there'd be too much to go over before I could actually start a game, so I switched over to twine, since I really just wanna tell a story.

I've decided on a choose your own adventure style, with the player character on a search for hidden knowledge kept in a ruined castle in the woods. I want a kinda Dark Souls/Skyrim/medieval vibe, with traps, hidden passageways, etc. as the player explores the castle. Loneliness, skeletons and moving statues are all that live there. I'm planning on a few bad ends, but I'm not sure how many 'good' ends I'll have, if it'll just be the 'you found it, congrats' end or other successful, but less fulfilling ends. After brainstorming with my partner that last few days, I've got a word document with a general outline of the beginning and first few optional routes.

If I can keep up nightly brainstorms, then plugging rough drafts of writing into twine, then I should have something to throw out into the world by next week.

Uh, thanks for reading, I hope all is going well for everyone's projects.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello, my name is mira. Nice to meet all of you.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

No, actually, I've managed to watch each one of these pass by, as I follow the tumblr page. I think there's been like, 2? or 3? that I've been to scared to participate in, just preemptively getting down on myself for failing to follow through. I finally joined this time bc I want to silence those voices that keep me from trying.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

The WindWaker is a big favorite of mine. The World Ends With You changed everything I thought I knew about RPGs. The Metroid Prime series features some of my favorite visual and written storytelling, and I loved that you had to go looking for it. Similar to the Soulsborne games now, Bloodborne being my favorite, that and the Dark Souls lore/worldbuilding/story as a whole are just...fantastic.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Nope.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Shoot, uh,

...shoot.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To produce a short story told either visually or through one of the various VN/interactive fiction software.

Hi! I'm brand new to all of this biz, so my goals are pretty tame.

-Learn RPGMaker2k3

-Create some sort of playable prototype

-Maybe create some original assets if time allows

Unfortunately, this game-jam coincides with the start of the school quarter AND I'm working pretty much full time. Sooo, I'll be very impressed and happy with myself if I end up with a 'completed' submission.
