Hi, thanks for your review and praise! I’m happy that you had fun.

I wouldn’t call myself as being ‘into’ game design specifically, I just like making games and my goal is to make something that gets under your skin; I am still a long way from making my games as I imagine them to be.

For this game I used Godot 4, LMMS to make the music, and GIMP for the art (animated player sprite and background animation is simply done by pushing around squares in Godot)

I did not understand how to repair the fence o.O, probably because I was too busy looking at the dog instead of reading the dialogue x)

But I love that the game has resource collection, very fun.

You have nice, clean sprites and very cool background music, I like it

this puzzle game requires levels of brain activity i am unable to give…

i love the hand-drawn background swirls, your music loop is awesome, the death sound and animation is lovely,

the theme is hit extremely well. it seems like everyone else (me included) thought to confine the player in a small space, but ‘limited’ can also mean that a space can only be used a certain amount of times, can’t it? i like your thinking

one of my favourites, good job

ice sliding puzzles are always fun, even if i am relatively bad at them :(

some simple looping background music would have been nice to set an atmosphere, i think. the sound effects are there, and they definitely improve the gameplay.

i encountered a bug: there seems to be no system in check to see whether you exit the screen. for instance, if you immediately go left in level 3, your character walks out-of-frame never to be seen again, and you have to restart the game, very frustrating in games like these where you can easily walk out-of-frame accidentally. it should be fairly easy to implement, i think, but of course i don’t know your codebase.

am i right in the assumption that you wrote this without using an engine? if that’s the case, i am very impressed, you already know more about how to conjure computer magic than i do.

i have to admit that i don’t particularly see the theme being done in a convincing way (this comes from someone who arguably didn’t do it myself), but the game is pretty fun

i had a few collision issues where my bullets hit the enemies but didn’t register as a hit, and it was a little bit boring to be stuck on a single line axis, perhaps moving in some pattern i’d have to figure out would be interesting,

but the music is awesome and rounds it up to be rather fun

p.s. the music slider allows you to turn up the music wayyy too loud. i didn’t even know my speakers could go this loud

The music is really excellent!

Space shooters are always really nice

The different background layers moving as you move are disorienting in a very spacey way, I think this is what really sets your gameplay apart

I felt like the ship’s firerate was a little too slow, I would have enjoyed for you to be able to fire more, perhaps have a rapid fire at some point?

Thanks for playing :)

Yes, I noticed now that my key mechanism is rather confusing, but I am happy that you still had fun playing!

Hey, thanks for playing! :D

a) You are right, some of the squares are too bright

b) While making the last two levels I have played with secret items. It all seemed obvious to me as I made the game, but I can very well see how it can seem random for you to be stuck on a level until you bump into some wall… In retrospect, it was probably a mistake to make the last two levels beatable only if you find the secret, on the other hand I think the levels are small enough to make that feasible, even if a wee bit annoying

c) The purple ‘key’ is supposed to be a keyhole for the cyan keys, actually! This is again me thinking something is too obvious when it is really ambiguous, especially given the keyholes have “key” written on them in bold letters… not exactly a good design decision

Thank you for playing :)

This is the first time I have implemented walljumping, so there was a lot of new ground to tread for me, so it makes sense for it to be a little awkward

They were even tricky for me as I made them :D Hope you had fun!

That is a good score! Thanks for playing!

Wowie!!! Fun puzzles!! 🐈
