We've been using these tutorials from inScope Studios on Youtube to help us figure out scripting and player movement! They're super in-depth and extremely helpful for other beginners.

About the Team
I'm MADS, I'm a 22 year-old aspiring game designer and concept artist who just graduated with a BFA in Illustration. I've never been part of a game jam before, but I have a lot of experience with analog game design that I'm excited to translate into digital. My goal is to make my own games and I figured here was a great place to start!
What's up, I'm RACHEL, I'm 22 and just graduated from school with a BFA in Illustration. I'm really interested in telling stories however possible, and I think video games are a really incredible and fun medium! I have a lot of ideas, but I know nothing about how to make one, so I want to change that. I'm excited to be a part of this jam!
ROARK is a 19 year-old engineering student and Rachel's younger brother. As someone with a bit more technological know-how, he'll be helping throughout the jam as a programming consultant on the game.
CONCEPT:
You are a villainous fiend who won't stop eating all the berries in the forest! The ghost of a berry you once ate is trying to stop you from eating more of its brethren! Avoid the berry ghost and eat as many berries as you can!
We plan to work primarily in Unity 2D for this project. Art will most likely be made in Aseprite and Photoshop.
GOALS:
- Create a functional, playable game.
- Learn more about game development and coding.
- Create a level
- Create a playable character that can move around the level
- Create an enemy character that will chase the player around the level
- Create collectibles for the player to acquire
- Stretch goal: Add collectibles that will give the player bonuses
- Stretch goal: Add traps/obstacles
- Stretch goal: Create multiple levels
- HAVE FUN!!

Hi everyone! We're Mads and Rachel, two recent art school graduates who want to start making our own video games. We're new to this and game jams in general, but we're excited to be here and try it out!
Rachel's favorite games include Hollow Knight, Breath of the Wild, and Twewy, and Mads's are Bloodborne/Dark Souls, Hyper Light Drifter, and Minecraft. They may seem very different, but both of us love games that tell stories through environment and gameplay with giant worlds for us to spend hours exploring. Rachel is newer to game development, though they've played around with RPG Maker and are interested in working with Unity. Mads is familiar with Unity and took a few game design classes in college, though they don't really consider themselves an expert. We've both taken at least one class about game theory and history, and have a lot of great game ideas!
Both of us graduated in Illustration this past May at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Art is definitely our strength, but we're working on our programming skills and are hoping this game jam will give us the opportunity to improve. We thought this would be a great summer project to participate in while we look for jobs and just generally try to figure out our lives post-grad. Can't wait to get started!!
