Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

The game is made of a small set of interconnected areas.  It's open in the sense that you can explore the areas as you see fit, but it's not a big open map like Breath of the Wild.

Thanks!  I'm glad you like it.  I originally had a low-res photo of the night sky, but I thought the simpler sky looked a little better.

Just released a small, relaxing, walking simulator where you take pictures of bigfoot.  You can roam around a small natural area, change the time of day, and take screenshots of the game.    You can get it for free here:

There are no other cryptids in this game

I primarily made this as a way to learn how to animate low-poly characters and to learn how to use the Godot engine to make 3D games.  So let me know what you think!

Let me know if I forgot anything.

Thanks for playing!

Thanks! It took me a while to figure out a way to have a satisfying ending to a game with no real story.

That's good to know.  Thanks!  Hopefully I'll be able to find a fix for it.

Nice!  I think I could add a full-game timer.  It might be a little while before I get a chance to add it though.

Oh awesome! Thanks!

I'm glad you like the game so much!  To answer a few of the questions you had in the video, I am a solo developer and I made this in my free time.  I didn't make the music, it's all public domain. (Music credits are in the hub and in the included readme.)  It took forever to find stuff that fit the tone I was going for.  You are correct that there's no real story.  I didn't really come up with anything that I thought would add to the game rather than detract from it.  You might enjoy my other first person game Lost in the Red Forest which is about navigating a confusing environment while piecing together an implied story.   I was never really satisfied with the way the jump felt, but it seemed to work well enough and eventually you just have to release your game or you just tune it forever. :)

I'm glad you like the game!  There is no in-game key assignment, but did you try the key assignment menu in the game launcher under the "Input" tab?

Thanks for letting me know about this!  Does it do this every time you start the game or does it do this randomly?  Also, was this linux, mac, or windows?

Studio Name: Haunted Window

Name Of Game: 13 Gates https://hauntedwindow.itch.io/13gates

Quick Bio of Game: 13 Gates is a short, free, first person action game like Doom or Quake except that you can't actively harm any of the enemies.  You have to dodge, stun, and shield your way through each level.  The game is filled with secrets to encourage exploration and find alternate paths through each level to complete them faster.

How long the Game was in development and if it's still in development, early access, or complete:  The game took me about 2 years to make in my spare time.  It started as a very different game, but after the first year I scrapped what wasn't working and focused on the parts I thought were fun. The game is complete unless someone finds a bug or something.

Why you became a game developer in the first place:  The moment I started playing video games when I was a kid, I started having my own ideas for games.  I had notebooks filled with level and mechanic designs.

13 Gates is a short, surreal first person action game in the vein of Doom and Quake.  You can't kill any of the enemies though so you'll have to dodge, stun, or shield your way to the end of each secret-filled level.
