A lot of the assets on itch are free but do not have a open source license . Are these still allowed in this Jam?

The colour does matter. You get two points for matching and one for not. 

I see your point about the tree collision. I did it like this as I didn't have time to figure out correct depth for the sprites. 

Cool idea that could defiantly work well and provide lots of puzzle possibilities. The art and sound are great. 

The arrow keys seem to work ok where as  WASD does not.

Yes I could do communicating to the player the aim of the game. Full disclosure, as a solo programmer the art and audio assets were found found online.
