Thanks for the review! I agree that the combat system is hard to manage, which is why I added the circle indicator on the ground (if the enemy is in the circle it should take damage) and I think that it can be hard to fight off enemies at times. For the close inventory button, the inventory is only supposed to be able to close if none of the items are overlapping with one another, so you might've placed an item on top of another one. I appreciate the feedback!
Great game! I really liked the cutesy art style, and I think the power ups and gameplay you created really worked with it to create a cozy vibe. I loved the core mechanic and it did a really good job of tying the idea of scale into the actual combat of the game. I think the fact that the player gets a random value but gets to choose where to apply it adds so much to the game, and especially that they can choose to apply it to the enemy or themselves. Overall, I think it was a really enjoyable experience and seems like it would be fun to play for hours on end!
I really enjoyed playing through this game! Not only was this an extremely creative take on the theme, it was executed very masterfully in a way that was intuitive for the player to understand. I really enjoyed how you spent the first few levels really getting the core concepts down for the player through simple puzzles, and slowly built on those ideas throughout the game with the different mechanics you added in. Additionally, I really enjoyed the puzzle designs throughout, as they never seemed too easy where it was boring nor too difficult that I was annoyed at the game. Overall, the game was crafted very well and I think you should be super proud of your submission!
Thank you so much! I think scope was definitely a major talking point when planning out this project, as I wasn't sure when I was doing too little or too much. I agree that maybe if I spent more time polishing up a simpler game it could be more cohesive and complete, but I'm really happy with how it turned out nonetheless!
I really like the conceptual base of the game, but I think there can be a few tweaks to be made in order to make it easier to play and more enjoyable for the player. I think that the enemies can start out a little slower in order to give the player a chance to adapt to the gameplay, and in general, I think the difficulty curve can be reduced to make it easier to play and get experience in and slowly ramp up the difficulty over time. I agree with arfox in that I think that making the player able to move around could be very interesting to the game. I think more tradeoffs could be made using the idea of growing with the number of bullets you shoot, and I think there should be a way to reverse that change (maybe get smaller the more enemies you kill?) so that you have to constantly manage your size. Overall, I love the idea, and I'm waiting for more to come!
I love the idea of balancing out different aspects using a scale, and that the weight of an object wasn't merely dependent on it's physical weight but rather it's characteristics. I also really enjoyed the calming music and the varied art styles, all of which added a lot to the vibes of the game and made it a lot of fun to play! I think something that you could do to potentially make it even better could be experimenting with more complex themes that have multiple solutions in them to make the player feel prouder of coming up with their own solution to a tricky puzzle. Overall, great game!
