Really enjoyed the demo, thanks for the generous amount of stages!
Some feedback:
- Cream Cheese Icing is very difficult for a first stage
Having the first stage use all the available buttons with no build up is a pretty steep curve. I hope the full game has some easier stages at the start like Parappa/Lammy to ease you in. Nami.wav ought to be the first stage in this demo.
- The overworld is far too big
I love the presentation of the overworld, but there's just too much space between points of interest. Surfing the keyboard helps, but unless the full game is going to have collectables or places to perform stunts on the keyboard then it needs to be shrunk down.
- Thank you for freestyling
I am terrible at memorisation, so I often mix the X and Y buttons up or don't have enough time to see what's coming up, so I fat finger my way through the ends of certain lines. I was only able to finish the demo because of how generous it can be when I accidentally freestyle.
- Intro skipping
Being able to fast forward some intros is very appreciated, but it would be nicer to just jump to an appropriate starting point. The fast forwarding still takes time and a little annoying to do on repeat attempts. If Stir & Mix just started immediately where it fast-forwards to on reset then I'd be happier.
- Good/Bad feedback sound
I had difficulty telling just by the sound effect whether I failed a line or not. The correct sound effect may be better off with something a bit more positive like a dinging sound?
Again, thank you for a wonderful demo - the amount you've managed to stretch the Parappa gameplay is inspired and I'm super excited for where it goes from here.
Enjoying the presentation in the demo. It's a simple and effective battle system and the funny names for the cards makes it more interesting than just simply trading blows.
I've come back a couple of times to try out the two demo decks and I can see a lot of potential in the free-form nature of the effects and costs.
Voice acting in the demo is good, and the character of Arc is very cute. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the cast!
I feel the battles drag on a bit longer than I'd like, especially on easy mode. Perhaps it's worth reducing the deck size and HP for easy difficulties or early-game duels and save the longer duels for more skilled players? For a stripping game it might also help those simply looking to fill their gallery.
I love the character art, it makes me wish the player character was also visible during a duel so you could also see them lose clothing. But that would be a big ask, it would require a lot more work and a refactor of the game's UI, so don't worry too much about that.
Looking forward to seeing more!
