The new update (0.5.2) definitely fixed a lot, but there is still immense lag spikes. I lost a P rank on 2hot because it lagged during a long note stream... 1 miss

Just use Newgrounds. Go on it and search FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' and play the one by "ninjamuffin99"

Just use the Itch Desktop App, dude.

Guys, you just don't understand. Clearly, a patch update is supposed to introduce new bugs, laggyness, and remove content.

We should just accept this new direction the Funkin' Team is taking this game.

Welcome to the Home Grown Itch Community!
Here, you can post suggestions, bug reports, and custom content.

Bug Reports

Unless you find a major bug, please don't post issues with the Alpha releases, as those will not be receiving support after the release of Beta 1.0.

  1. Before posting a bug report, be sure you are on the latest release/patch and that it is an issue that hasn't already been posted. This will be much easier after I finish setting up Home Grown's GitHub and we can move bug reports there.
  2. Next, grab the correct log file from Home Grown's logs and attach it to your post.
    1. For Alpha: "%appdata%/homegrown_alpha/logs" (enter in the File Explorer's address bar)
    2. For Beta: "%appdata%/.homegrown/logs" (enter in the File Explorer's address bar)
  3. (optional) Link a recording of the incident, preferably on YouTube or Vimeo, along with the exact timestamp.
  4. Also, describe the issue and, if it isn't clear why it is an issue, explain why you think it should be changed.
  5. Lastly, add a step-by-step process to recreate the bug if possible. If it is unknown what led to the issue, describe whatever you were doing beforehand, and whether you think it happened just then or if it had already occurred, and then you discovered it.

Custom Content

The latest version of Home Grown, Alpha 3.x, does not natively support custom content (mods, textures, saves, etc.). But, if you take a liking to Home Grown: Alpha (for whatever reason) you can still post your custom content.
Home Grown: Beta will have early native support for modding, with full documentation on how to use all its components!

When posting your content, do not attach it directly to your post, you can link to an off-site post or page for its download.

NOTE: You may not hold the developers behind Home Grown or the moderators or Itch responsible for malicious modifications unless we confirm it is safe. As a player, we expect you to do background checks on packs you plan to download. Moderators in this community will also specify which version of the mod was verified, and you should not expect us to review all packs and any future versions.

You might not have a 64 bit system. Try downloading the 32 bit version.

There's currently nothing like that, I'm sure other engines have VSync or Max FPS options, but not with vanilla FNF.

If you've been playing in Fullscreen try playing in Windowed mode and see if that helps, if you haven't been you could also try going Fullscreen, but I don't think that'll help.

I think that makes sense. I was thinking of making a game where you switch out game cartridges of an old game system and each one of them are different mini metroidvanias, and certain items or abilities will be usable across each of them.

Or each one of them is from a different time period, and if you make a change in one of the oldest games, it will also happen in all the others.

I am very confused about where this theme came from and what it's supposed to mean. I have an idea for it, but I want to hear what other people think of the theme.

S.U.T.A.Beta 2 is an action survival roguelike shooter with elements of strategy. In Classic mode, your goal is to survive until help arrives, while Rogue mode is simply about surviving until you eventually die.

And, yes, this version was made in Scratch and still functions on it (even after the recent large update). But don't let that fool you, as that doesn't prevent it from being a very fast-paced and challenging game. The full release will be developed in another engine, but I still think this is one of my best solo projects (though very basic).

Play free here!

Hey, cool game and idea, but since the rock can go under ground you can beat the entire game without the arrow keys

A bit difficult to say, because in my opinion, it ruins the point of joining two different GameJams. Why join two different Jams if you're only making one game? It may look like you're only submitting to two different jams to increase your game's attention (not saying that's why, just that it may look like that).

My Suggestion: Try contacting people who run both Jams.

I probably could've done that (now I'm regretting that I didn't think of it), but instead of publishing an unfinished mess and leaving the project behind, I can now work on a full version with much more content.

My game is an unfinished mess, therefore I won't be submitting an entry. But I hope everyone else's games turn out well and everyone has a great time! And let this be a lesson to any new game developers: Plan. That is the #1 most important thing I've learned over my years as a game developer, yet I continue to fall victim to overambition and underplanning.
