I really loved the strategy that came with having to choose what ships and how much you'd spend in the short amount of time you had. There's little for me to add in terms of technical development and playability, outside of two points:
– The camera was zoomed too closely to the screen, and I later figured out I could scroll to make the figures smaller on screen so I could view them better. Maybe you could start with the camera zoomed out a bit more.
– Music selection. As a composer, I could tell you took some tracks that sounded good to you and decided to put them in different sections. Regarding that I recommend the following points:
- write original music, or have someone write it for you, I'm sure you can network here and find some people willing to cook up something original and tailor made for your game.
- for such a short game, you don't need two different works of music, just one playing form when you load up the game. Either that or have the composer create two tracks (one calm, one upbeat) that seamlessly transition between each other according dependant on there being enemies or not.
- make sure the track is loop-able and it doesn't restart/reset when you either start the level or go back to the menu, just keep it constant and moving, and it won't cause a disrupt when browsing through the game
Those are my two cents!
Thank you for making your game!
