The art was so nice, and the overall vibe - even though I was solving a murder - was actually quite pleasant. I loved the little fish animation while everything was loading and the music. Tbh, I wish this crew of "monsters" could be my friends IRL.
I chose to romance Sanraya which undoubtedly was a great choice. She was so sweet and I 100 percent would visit the cosmos with her. Garret was also such a loveable character, he was the absolute best and I loved his goats.
The skill checks during important scenes was a nice touch and I actually liked this. The fishing minigame wasn't my favorite, however, the concept overall was super cool. This game really is well polished. I'm absolutely blown away by the level of effort and care that went into this game for a jam.

Okay...it should be a crime that this game has been out for 2 days with me being the first comment on this page, I can't believe this game hasn't been played 100x more.

I'm not usually a fan of the 4th wall breaking, but in this case, breaking the fourth wall was actually kind of cool. I've never actually experienced a work like this, and it brought forward an insanely cool idea of extreme awareness of one's situation. I love have eventually the chains were broken by going against fate itself. Isn't that just the human experience? Or in this case, both the human and vampire experience.
"Mircalla: I am a messy, sloppy, monster" - Felt lol
Also, shouts to Kat Loveland who slayed the vampire role as Mircalla's voice actor. Well done!

Ahhh where do I start. Well, the piano title screen was beautiful and I love the way it was designed. The voice acting was perfect for a jam game, and I'm impressed that y'all got that much done in such a short time! I absolutely loved the sprites and Mercia poor Mercia :( she's so precious.
The first CG of the baby caught me off guard I was like holy f*ck - then remembered that it is indeed Spooktober. Uriel made me so sad. She tried everything to make her parents happy. It's always the parents like hers that end up with the sweetest kids that just want to do everything they can to please their family. Great work on this game, it was so sad/sweet.

Wow okay, so first of all, I loved the music and the sound effects and the art style was so unique. This story was deep, and insanely cool. The themes of the yin and yang of life were incredibly well blended together. First you slightly see it with Jake and Mia (they are opposites) and then it gets pieced together with Aphrodite versus Ares (the god of love and the god of war) light versus dark, love versus hate, confidence versus uncertainty - strong themes.
You really had me tearing up for a moment when Jake was in his childhood home. Ahhh, being Mia and knowing that I had to break him away from that memory because of the effects it would have on him. It was a tough one, but a beautifully crafted story. Thank you for putting this together, I enjoyed it.

This is a great story. I honestly really felt bad for Arika from the moment I decided to go chill with Bryan, knowing right well that it would be a mistake. The art style was great and every step of the way, it was chilling. The moment I began to fight the eye monster, it became fairly clear that I was likely dealing with a drug situation - and it made it sad knowing that Arika would have to not only defend herself but live with this terrible trauma.
I liked the moment when Akira was almost beaten down by the witch but managed to pull things together to let positive affirmations shine through, but nonetheless it was still clear that her life was going to get much worse. When the detective told me I killed in self defense, I wasn't actually surprised, but I could empathize with this girl a lot. Here she is - an outcast, feeling unloved. Now she had to suffer an even worse fate of not only being unloved but having positive evidence against her of being this gruesome, thorny girl. Great story, I really found myself attached to Arika.

I seriously loved the art and visuals. The story was absolutely bonkers, which I appreciated. I had to go and check the criteria for a minute to see if it even made sense for this jam lol cause everyone is going with very solid/undeniable horror or psychological components in their VN submissions. This submission was a bit a breath of fresh air because it was soooo goofy and enjoyable to play. I was locked into it until the very end. Thank you for submitting such a wonky game.
- "220 degrees in my direction" LOL
- I couldn't help but saying kappa kappa, ngl
- The fish guessing game took me out

Absolutely insane. I've never played a game like this, so well thought out. The story was impeccable. This game was probably the scariest work of art I've ever seen in my life, being that the monster was capitalism (doesn't get scarier than that tbh).
I loveeeed the artwoork and the UI was so good. It was like inter-dimensional cable had a baby with an actual lesson learned about the weight of corporate greed. Great work to the entire team. I thoroughly enjoyed this!

Okay look, I'm sorry but Lydia kinda won me over. First of all, getting kidnapped and not having to work? Sign me up.
The bottle room was the bane of my existence, and I think in total I died 5 times throughout this game - or in other words - if I didn't have the option to replay a room I would absolutely be cooked. Still, I danced my way through the blades, got a big ole' smooch from Lydia and even got to see her blush. 10/10 would let her eat me again.
Fantastic work on this game. It was absolutely absurd, and I actually did get jump scared at one point haha.

Sheeeesh. What made this game so scary was the chilling reality that is the ICU. Understaffed, overworked, and dealing with all sorts of frustrations and complaints. Mr. X was a great example of something that could easily be a real situation that someone working in an ICU has to deal with. I ended up with the Normal ending, and the Satria part was a cool twist that I wasn't able to predict. Overall, this was a thrilling exploration of the psychological effects of working in such a high-pressure environment. Also - poor Mrs. Selvi ughhh.
Outside of the story, I loved the art style and the music was perfect. This was beautifully done.
Full disclosure, I'm a voice actor on this project
I have to say, I absolutely love the loop concept that was introduced. This game plays so smooth, and I was impressed with the quality that was put together in such a short time. If you're looking for a classic retro-slasher with twists and turns, you should absolutely try this game out.
Remember: Your choices matter ;)

Under the False Sky | Blood:Covered Snow was just released as a demo for Winter Visual Novel Jam 2023! I'm a voice actor on the project, and I want to take a moment to encourage everyone who likes darker themed games to download it and give it a play! It would mean a lot to us!
Download it and read more about it!

Summary
Screenshots
Disclaimer: I'm associated with the project, but this is my first time actually seeing all of the elements come together and actually getting to play it.
I had to write a review, even though I was there for this entire project.
If I had to summarize my experience in one line:
"A visual novel that will tear your heart apart even if you know what's going to happen."
GUI: FRESH. Honestly it's so clean, and Anna, you really knocked it out of the park. I love the amount of features you managed to bake into the final product as well.
Story: Absolutely heartbreaking, in many ways. I'd rather not spoil it. Even though I read this script twice over, it just felt so clean and well put together after seeing it come to life in a visual novel. The many twists and turns make for something that could easily end up being a lengthy series of associated visual novels. It was a good story.
Music: Easily considered Triple A videogame music. Beautifully crafted.
Sprites: I've said it once and I'll say it a million more times, Selene's sprites are so beautiful!
Voice Acting: Branden's directing skills were superior, and he really lead the voice actors to where they needed to be. The story was undoubtedly enriched and really came to life with voice acting.
SFX: Honestly, astounding that Anna was able to put as many special effects as she did in this visual novel. It's jam packed full of it!
Backgrounds: What I had imagined while reading the script. Perfect for the visual novel.
Burning Red is a captivating game that builds a lot of tension. In a lot of ways, the protagonist is someone with innate & unmet human desires, seeking something more, but feeling self conscious about a rough past/present. Where does Alvarez come in? Exactly as you could imagine: standoffish, tough, typical military hard-ass who's haunted by his own past. The trope makes sense, and being ex-mil myself, I can understand his demeanor.
There's really no way to put this game demo into words without blowing the entire demo, so I'll focus on the game elements:
Writing
5/5 - Absolutely unhinged. I could 100% see this as a full game.
Visuals/Artwork
5/5 - Dark, cold, yet surprisingly reassuring at parts.
Extra Features
5/5 - I mean, NSFW on/off, what more can I say? That's awesome.
Voice Acting
5/5 - Killed it. Perfect for the character.
Music
4/5 -- Don't hate me, it was good about 85% of the time but there were some "eh" moments, it's not so much the quality of the music as it is my personal preference (But personal opinion aside it's a 5/5 for the setting)
Coding
5/5 - I mean, I wasn't exactly digging but I didn't have any issues or notice any bugs, and it ran flawlessly on Linux which is so rare for games these days.
The story is good, and to see a friend's work come to life in this way is incredibly satisfying.
