I died before I even started the game, and I didn't even remember the clue, 10/10. But seriously though, that was a fun game to play through. Being able to go back to the previous room before dying is a great feature to have (especially with how much I was dying lol). I loved Lydia's character design. Great work!

A super fun tale with such a variety of endings!! I had a lot of fun going back to this "classic" style of click and explore visual novel games-Had me feeling really nostalgic! Great work and can't wait to see more from this creator ^^
Also thank you for your support! I know you mentioned you weren't able to come to the stream, so here's a link to the VOD of me playing through!
(starts at about 1 hour 36 min) https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2285331779
I love escape room VNs (and not just because the very first VN I ever published was an escape room lol), and this one has so much style and character that it really stands out. I also loved all the irony in the intro, that was just delightful.
It's me again. HI.
Other than everything I said on the game page, I loved how you guys were able to keep the maze coherent while also making it maze-like enough for the player.I do think that this type of game would have really benefited from a point-click mechanic and perhaps a moving from room to room mechanic? Giving more independence to the player to roam around and piece together the puzzles as they go.
But of course, Spooktober is a month!! And figuring out a point-click thing is hard, and you guys did really good without it anyway! :>
I guess my one other critique is that the "victory" ending where MC remembers everything was kinda hard for me to get. On one hand-- lowkey my fault, I forgot that we could drink the fountain blood. But I had also checked it off in my head with "oh it's probably just another death".
Like I said on the stream, slowly coming to the conclusion about the MC's lore is what was the most fun for me. Being able to reach the end of the game without figuring that out kinda felt like... huh? That's it? You know?
And most of the lore I had managed to piece together through the rooms, so when I did eventually get the victory ending, it felt pretty satisfying. But if I were to have drank the blood on my first run, only having gotten the chalice and not knowing anything about MC yet, I feel like the reveal and ending would come as a huge shock. I'm not sure if you guys had any checks in place to prevent that from happening. But if it could happen, someone who played through the game that way would have a completely different impression of it.
ANYWAY, overall it was a super enjoyable game!! I had a blast playing through it! Good job!! :>>>
I keep dying, so I might need a walkthrough! Hehehe! Amazing job on having to design the maze and death flags! It got me really hooked and I wanted to play more, loved the experience!
I have never had so much fun going through a maze. My first run had me hooked, mostly for the variety of rooms and the huge amount of possible deaths there are. Instead of exploring the maze to get to the end, I first of all was going through every option I could to unlock every death message I could. And the story is no pushover either, as it had me connecting red string from hint to hint on everything that happened, until I was able to finally put everything together on the climax.
Plus, the sound and visual effects really added to the already great story!!
You guys did a fantastic work on this game, and made getting lost a great experience.
In conclusion, internet promotions may be a free mansion or may be a vampire trying to kidnap you. Bring some garlic either way.
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much❤️ I cant tell you how much hearing that brightened me up! Hearing that you enjoyed the story as well as the maze itself is amazing!
Nine to Five is very much on my to play list, looks like the exact kind of humour and game i adore❤️
Thank you again for playing and for your wonderful review. Hope you had fun!
[Spoilers ahead]
Okay look, I'm sorry but Lydia kinda won me over. First of all, getting kidnapped and not having to work? Sign me up.
The bottle room was the bane of my existence, and I think in total I died 5 times throughout this game - or in other words - if I didn't have the option to replay a room I would absolutely be cooked. Still, I danced my way through the blades, got a big ole' smooch from Lydia and even got to see her blush. 10/10 would let her eat me again.
Fantastic work on this game. It was absolutely absurd, and I actually did get jump scared at one point haha.
This is the game I wish I wrote! Just absolutely fabulous. The replay ability is great, I love having the option just to return to the last room when you die, and I just think it all fits so well together. I love this game!
Thank you so so much! That is very sweet of you to say❤️ The return to room option was very important to us as we wanted there to be lots of ways to die but we also wanted to respect our players time too. Your kind words are so wonderful and thank you for your encouragement throughout the jam as well❤️ Going to be playing your game today which im really looking forward to 😁
You're so welcome! I've really enjoyed meeting and talking with all of the folks in the VN dev community that I've 'met' and I hope we all can have fun and keep creating together! I'm all about that. Have fun with my game and enjoy -- I'm gonna save your game to my computer so I can see more death scenes later LOL
This was just FUN. There was so much to explore - even in the game menu. The first thing I did was to to "Endings" and click the spot that said don't click...This game felt like a true escape room, and it kind of reminded me of Myst. I can totally see the complex branching you did to make this so interesting! And the plot really works for this gameplay!
