The game is updated (version 1.3 now) and I changed fan blades from the pretty unfair instant kill across all maps that feature them. This was great feedback and I think it's a huge improvement. Thanks again.
"In the next update I'll add a cheat of some sort like + extra health (just a keyboard button press at any time) so you'll be able to get through it easier"
In the rush to release the latest update I forgot to do this. I hope people find the current state of the game challenging, but much fairer now (especially in the second map for 'Residue Processing'!).
Lastly, I'd love to see a playthrough if anyone has the time and ability to record it.
Cheers
I'm stoked to hear great constructive feedback on this section of the game!! Huge thanks.
I'm now going to implement changes to those fan blade damages being instant kills. (edit: It's absolutely brutal and I apologize...I'm reducing the damage right now (for the next update)). I'll go back into two earlier parts and do the same with fan blade damage there too. In the next update I'll add a cheat of some sort like + extra health (just a keyboard button press at any time) so you'll be able to get through it easier, I'll reduce the instant death fans damage to 30% instead of 100%, meaning you will still need skill, but it won't be as unfair. ;)
For the time being I know it's brutal at end...but you were roughly 2/3 through the FINAL map of the current game! I made it difficult because it's where I was leaving things off for a challenge for another year or more while my real job gets in the way. Consider the maze of fans (and what comes after them) as an end of game challenge for now...if you beat that, you're a damn fine player! :)
Checkpoints are such a good idea. Hopefully down the track. It likely won't be anytime soon though. This is still just a passion project in my spare time. I don't know what I'll be uploading for the next update, but the next new maps will hopefully be November 19th 2023.
Lastly, you're 100% right on the DirectX redistributable...I'll add it soon as I can locate it again.
Many thanks again, really appreciate you playing and the invaluable feedback.

Thanks so much for the reply...I think your video is excellent, and it made my day. I hope you choose to share it here! Short and sweet, shows some great footage between chapters 1-6 without ruining the game. I'm hoping somebody is interested in uploading chapters 7-10 at some point as I haven't seen any playthroughs of them yet appear online. Huge thanks Ankumba.
"Hi! Sorry but I've decided that the video is not worthy to be seen :D . I was a bit sick when I filmed it and my voice sounds horrible among other things I could've done better during editing."
Understood, and sorry to hear that. I'm not going to be negative towards it though, and I'd still certainly love to watch it since you put the time into making it. I won't be sharing it so feel free to privately message me a link.
"Anyway, I still think the game is fun."
Thanks so much, I really appreciate hearing this! :) It's taken up a lot of my time to make it!
"are you still active as a game developer?"
Yes! I've prototyped a lot of work for the second half of the game that is now ready to implement in an update for this years Half-Life anniversary in November, and have also made a lot of fun little side projects in my spare time. Bit by bit, in various forms, other projects should see the light of day once this one is finished. This is just a hobby for me though, sadly my job & life outside of work get in the way. Check back after the Half-Life anniversary this November though, I haven't missed updating since release and this year will hopefully be no different. ;)
Thanks again, (and please message me a link to your private video of the game! It's extremely helpful for me in redesigning sections, designing maps in the future.)

Sorry about that, and thanks very much for starting a thread on errors, it's tricky to know what to test to identify the issue you're mentioning. :/ I've tested a few different things on the blast pit maps hoping to find the cause of the error you found, but no luck yet :( my playthrough of those maps seems fine overall. I'll continue looking into it though and hopefully rectify in time for the next update.
Thanks so much Chris! I'm actually making a fan game now using what I learned from this, but stepping everything up quite a bit. I can't say much at the moment, but I'm very excited about it, you'll be one of the first to know when it's released. Your video was very entertaining too, much appreciated.
Thanks for that, I may slow them down - just a little - for the next update. BTW you're invincible in training mode, (when your health or the plane reaches 0% it resets back to 100%) it's there to practice without the consequence of a game over, so hit all the trucks and see how much damage you can take! That could be an extra game mode in the next update.
