Whoops, I probably should have taken the reference to derelicts out, seeing as I didn’t get to implementing it. But by derelict I meant spacecraft, not planet-side colonies. The Sojourner is not equipped to enter a gravity well ;)

It gives a 404 error. Perhaps it is set to private?

This played great, and the asteroid sticking was highly entertaining even as my ship repeatedly spun out of control. Only weird thing was I got a state where the ‘stuck’ asteroids were not at all connected to the ship.

This was a fun game! [Fixed] But the github repository is not present!

Gameplay: Overall a good experience, controls worked and felt right. Targetting the planting sites was really hit and miss. Shots felt a bit slow moving, I mostly just dodged instead of actively aiming for meteors.

Graphics: Beautiful. I especially enjoyed the progressive damage to the ship. It would have been nice to have a proper crashing animation to go along with it.

Audio: Everything sounded good!

Theme intepretation: Not a lot to go on, but I’m not expecting a lot from an infinite scrolling shooter. I did not feel especially rewarded for successful plantings though.

Innovation: Having a secondary goal in addition to shooting down enemies was a nice touch.

The zip file appears to only have a Windows executable, no Mac or Linux version.

Which menus did you miss? The game definitely doesn’t do much hand-holding, but I had hoped the available player actions were clear at least.

Any particular part that was slow? Outer system nav felt a bit slow to me, but it was awkward to fix that without making inner system nav so fast you couldn’t course correct out of a collision with the sun. I probably just need to add a fast-forward button.

I really hate when my browser suddenly starts making noise, hence the default. I’d prefer to let my player have a choice before starting audio.

Interesting game. Thruster controls were really touchy though.

This is some nice work! Everyone died :’(

Gameplay: Solid, but having to click on the items to take them and press a button to see oxygen was a bit annoying.

Graphics: Did a great job of selling the atmosphere. The text font during expeditions seemed a bit out of place though.

Audio: I had to turn it up/down depending on which scene I was in, but great otherwise.

Theme interpretation: Story checks out.

Innovation: I enojoyed the task assignment/exploration mashup.

It uses localStorage to save, so if it’s aggressive with privacy settings saving in general won’t work (a warning for that is another future item). Does the game reload where you left off if you refresh the page mid game? If it does then something is wrong with Mission Logs. If it doesn’t your privacy or security settings prevent it from saving.

What is the issue you’re seeing with mission logs? It might not log the result properly if you leave the page before the game over sequence is finished but it seems fine on my browser.

And ya, it could use some quality of life improvements.

I talked to Tom right after and it immediately moved things along.

Tried running this in my browser. Appears to be broken on Mac OS/Chrome. Does not get past the Unity loading screen.

This was overall enjoyable but had a few issues. With a bit more balancing this would be excellent.

The good:

  • Nailed the theme!
  • Very playable, anyone familiar with the classic Sim games should immediately grasp what is going on.

The bad:

  • The game did not quite fit on my laptop’s display, cutting off a bit of the mood status.
  • I quickly got the game into a steady state where I didn’t need to do much besides click maintenance buttons. The alerts requiring a fixed amount of resources to prevent other effects didn’t occur often enough to actually cause resource pressure, and population status indicators don’t seem to affect each other or cause spiraling effects if not attended to.

Rating Notes:

  • Gameplay: Everything works, intuitive UI. Gameplay became monotonous once a steady state was reached.
  • Graphics: Looked fine overall, the growing and shrinking suns was a nice touch. Actually seeing the buildings outside of build mode was a bit hard.
  • Audio: Background track was great. I’m not sure if it was just my volume level, but other sound effects were compartively very quiet.
  • Theme Interpretation: Story and gameplay both a perfect fit! Can’t ask for more.
  • Innovation: A classic base-builder, but the lunar setting is a nice twist.

Thanks for trying it out! That’s great to hear about the ending, sounds like it hit just how I hoped.
