just added the exe

Wow, thank you so much for the thorough review! You really captured what we were going for: multiple layers of subversion.
We tried to communicate the ladder bit with the little, "where am I? I need to get home" message at the start of the first cat stage, but with some more playtesting we definitely could've communicated a few things a bit better. The cat collection misdirection was totally on purpose though, we still wanted it to be a horror game (of sorts).
Thanks for playing, we're glad you enjoyed it!

doesn't squaring a negative number make it positive?

Love the concept and art! To expand on this idea, a deckbuilding component (or any kind of control over what cards you could draw) would be a lot of fun. I really appreciated how Sole Eater didn't do damage, but was multiple colours. I assume this means it would combo with more socks, but I always had better combos with damaging socks

Lost with 1220 points screaming IT NEEDS CHEESE! Fun little flash game. Could add order or ingredients as a variable, so I don't send out a burger with the patty outside the bun

Love the art and style! Not sure how it fits with the theme. Apparently I'm very lucky because I won when I was playing strategically, won twice more when picking randomly, and only lost on my 4th playthough because I picked nothing but scissors. The devil isn't very good at this game

Once I figured out that it was shooting automatically, it was a fun time. I'm not sure the first right-side upgrade is better than the default, since half the shots miss the target, so just save up for the 20c pink one

Took me a couple tries to understand how it worked, and a few more to actually clear a room, but damn this is a fantastic little puzzle game. Super satisfying with the juicy camera, particle effects, and sound. I think if you hand-crafted a few tutorial levels to let players ease into it, it would fix the onboarding hiccups.

I like the custom titles and art. I think the puzzles piece mechanic is already a fun take on the theme, the reversing of the controls wasn't really necessary

The control scheme is rough, but I like the general idea. If this had a time limit and a prompt (e.g. double bacon cheeseburger, vegetarian, etc.) to guide you, it would be great chaotic fun

Stellar art! Very simple gameplay idea, but easy to understand and allowed time for a great level of polish. Very well done!

I love the goofy snake model! The way the scene zooms out as the snake grows keeps the difficulty at a good level. It was a little unclear what killed me a few times, but I had fun

I love the paper artstyle! The little squashes when jumping and the turning animation were so charming

I like the thematic twist, chaotic fishing

I like the simple, but consistent artstyle. And your checkpoint system is really nice. I think this concept would be awesome if you could switch boots whenever you wanted, instead of just at specific points

There's so much you could do with this concept, keep it up!

Very polished! I'm confused by the premise. No matter what I try, I end up with like 1000 health, nothing seems to make my ship's health go down

Yeah I spent a while trying to figure out why my robot was just disappearing. I really like the idea though, frantically piecing together robots out of random parts and then they have to accomplish a task

Super ambitious to make Overcooked in 48 hours. I think the time limit is far too strict though. There's clearly a lot of depth to the recipes, but I barely got my dough rolled out before I ran out of time

I like the series of puzzles. I think a map or maybe even just changing the background when you go to different parts of the world would help a lot when people are feeling lost

If you wander around to different screens, you find various items that require you to solve little puzzles to pick up. There are 4 in total I think

Super ambitious twist! I'd love a game that went all-in on this concept (trying not to spoil it for others)

Fun idea, the control scheme took a bit to get used to. I really got stuck a few times because it's very easy to accidentally knock a block into a corner and then I can't get it back out again

Great game feel! I really appreciate the language-less approach to teaching you how the categories work. Unfortunately I got stuck pretty early even though, to my eye, I had tried a couple valid solutions. But I really like the polished simple experience

(1 edit)

It didn't show up for me at first, but after refreshing the page it reappeared

I'm a little confused how I can get -106 with only positive numbers. Maybe this is just my poor math skills so early in the morning. Did I miss a negative number power up? I bought what I thought was a negation from the shop, but I didn't see anything new in the top toolbar

It took me a bit to find the first shirt, but I like your take on the theme. I like the little trick you play with the grey block over the spikes. It was safe before I got the powerup but dangerous after. Made me pay attention

Never thought I'd play a game that ended with "Whoops Siblings", very nice

The opening art made me so sad! I like the flopping around animation. I think some of the streets are close to impossible to cross without getting hit by a car. And to outrun the robots(?) that follow you, I had to exploit the fact that you run faster diagonally than straight ahead

I never expected an opening cinematic and I really liked the way the boss entered. I'm not sure how to damage the boss though. I tried attacking the arms when they came down but that damaged me instead

Hey, I'm stuck on the very first level. Am I supposed to pick up and drop the soccer balls somewhere to open the things blocking the matchboxes?

I assumed I would get to use my creature in a little platformer or maybe a maze game, cause the background looks like a maze. I like my creature though

I can't upload an exe until the jam voting period ends, but I'll add one afterward

That was so cool to watch you figure out the mechanics. Definitely a few things could be explained better, but you got our intentions pretty quickly

I'm interested. Godot 4, right?

This is stellar, thank you so much

A twist. Multiple, stacking twists. Weird, pretentious nonsense. Technically I guess sending him malware would be really aberrant, but don't do that

There's definitely a connotation of horror or unease, but technically (and he even mentioned this in the livestream), abberations are just unexpected, not necessarily unpleasant. My guess is he just really wants to push us to make something outside the box, play with established assumptions, etc.

In another thread, Acerola said you should be able to build the game from the repo, so that means everything needs to be in there. You don't have to post the repo until after the jam ends, if that's your concern. If you're worried about people copying your work later, welcome to open source

@Zoogies, The rule was no AI (i.e. no ML) from the start. It hasn't "extended" anywhere. People just don't like being told they have to do their own work
