Hey there Mtrimbl!

We’re sorry to hear about the issues with the login system.

I’ve just double checked and there appears to be a bit of a problem with our automailer and it’s occasionally forgetting to send e-mails.

I’ve manually activated both of the accounts you made, so feel free to use either to link your SoulKey!

If you have any further issues, please feel free to contact us here, or at our Discord

Hopefully this helps!

Hi there Mtrimbl,

We’re so glad you are enjoying the game!

I’ve just double checked for you and the SoulKey system is up and functional.

To link your SoulKey:

  • Register an account on verdictgames.com by selecting the “Community” option at the top of the page, and then “Account” and make a note of the username and password you used to register.
  • Load into the save of ABSENCE: Verdict of Silence you would like to link to (you can get the rewards on as many saves as you would like, but synchronising only uses data from the latest linked save)
  • Press ESC and go to the options menu.
  • Go to the “SoulKey” category on the left and then click “Link Account”
  • A popup will appear (you may need to try shrinking the game first with ALT+ENTER if your operating system doesn’t bring the window to the front)
  • Enter your username and press enter or OK, and then your password and press enter or OK.
  • After a moment or two you will get a message stating that linking the account has succeeded - press OK.

You can now synchronize your data if you wish - to make it available for special content and rewards in future Verdict games.

Once your SoulKey is linked, head back to your camp and there will be a crate outside, directly to the left of where you spawn after exiting the camp - interacting with this crate will provide you with your Soul Key unique item, and secret companion.

Thank you for supporting as, and thank you for supporting Indie games!

Hey there Mtrimbl!

Unfortunately the only method of purchase we have currently is through PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, you can still use them to purchase without signing up - which should appear as an option at checkout.

It may also be of use to contact PayPal’s support if you are having issues with PayPal itself.

I hope this helps!

Hi drmellifluous!

Thanks so much, we appreciate the feedback. Movement is something that A:VOS does struggle with due to the inherent layering issues with RPGMaker, but since adopting the new engine of Unity we’re excited to hopefully share what we’re working with soon.

To stay updated, feel free to join the Discord - Thanks again for supporting us and thanks for supporting Indie games.

Hey there drmellifluous,

Thanks so much! We are really happy to hear you’re enjoying the game.

I hope Canse won’t be too cold!

Thanks again for your support, and thanks for supporting Indie games!

Hi John,

Double check the stage you are at in the tutorial quest by pressing the “Escape” key and going to the quest journal - you may have to talk to Ghist first or read the recipe depending on what stage of the quest you are at.

If you still are having issues collecting the item - make sure you are aligned correctly with the box (a small icon will appear over it indicating you are in the right spot to interact).

And if all else fails, try restarting a new game and seeing if the issue persists - and if so, feel free to drop by our Discord, or let me know here and we’d be happy to help!

Thanks for supporting us!

Hi John!

To interact with objects you can either use the Left Mouse Button and click on it while standing near/next to it, or the Enter/Spacebar key.

The Potato for the tutorial quest can be found in one of the crates inside your camp.

I hope this helps, and thanks for supporting us!

Hey Caernok,

I’m glad to hear the issue has resolved itself!

In regards to Canse attacking automatically - there are several items and effects that can cause this - make sure Canse is not debuffed by an enemy or wearing an items with effects such as Succor or Death March.

Hope this helps, and thanks for supporting us!

Hey there babyloniangardens!

Thanks so much for the feedback, and for your support!

We’re glad to hear that you’re enjoying the new update -

The new art is designed to be more in line with our newest media/game content.

Ket’s new design is featured on the cover of our most recent release!

Verdict: Shadowbourne

If you would prefer to use the classic character portraits, there is a modpack available on our discord in the “#mods” channel!

Thanks again, and hope this helps!

Hey Ladiciusevol!

Thanks so much for reporting this issue.

I took a quick look over the quest triggers and noticed it was possible to complete the steps out of order, soft-locking the quest.

I’ve just uploaded a hotfix that corrects this issue and should allow completion of the quest regardless of the order that the triggers are activated in.

I hope this helps!

Hi Caernok,

Thanks for the feedback! Could you please provide a picture of the error message, either here or posted in our discord?

Hi arkenian,

Thanks so much for your feedback!

Issues such as the visuals freezing while the rest of the game is still running can occur when something is interfering with the render pipeline of the engine.

In many cases, this is either from running the game through a remote desktop program, or a virtual machine. Certain forms of overlays such as the NVIDIA or Steam overlay can also cause this issue.

I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to pop in to our discord and ask around!

Hey jussto!

We just recently released a hotfix yesterday that patched a number of issues including a few related to the quest with Alan’s Pack - if you download the new version and extract it over the top of your existing version then with any luck this bug should be remedied!

If you have any further issues, please feel free to hop into our Discord and say hi!

Hey there catorte!

Thanks for reporting this issue, I loaded the test environment and tried toggling all of the flags and it turns out depending on what order things were done, there is a possible way to soft brick the puzzle states.

Thanks so much for letting us know, we may never have found this on our own. I’ve created a hotfix that should catch all regardless of completion order, I’ll upload that right now -

Thanks again, we really appreciate your help and support!

Hi catorte!

We’re so glad to hear you’re having fun with the game!

Many quests in the game will give brief directions towards their objectives in the Quest Journal, accessible from the pause menu.

In the event that you have already checked the journal but are still unable to find the cave, here is a (minor spoiler!) hint:

Explore the Felodrift Northlands, and towards the west you can climb to a hidden pond, near a Dryad.

Hope this helps, and feel free to pop in to our Discord if you have any other questions!

Hi BloodMoon090,

We’re so glad to hear you enjoyed the game!

Inside the Maison du Oufrei, there are several ways to pass through the rooms, some including skill checks, and others involving hidden mechanisms or objects.

If you’re stuck and can’t proceed forward, remember to check around the rooms you have already unlocked for anything that seems conspicuous!

Thanks for your comment, and thanks for supporting us!

Hi Etym,

We’re sorry to hear about that!

Originally if people were getting stuck, we were responding on the forums - but the forums could be a bit difficult to find.

If you’re having any issues, please feel free to contact us in our Discord and we’ll be happy to help!

Hi donii00x!

The playtime of the game currently widely depends on how many side-quests and activities the player completes, but based on most player’s experience, it wouldn’t possible to beat the game in less than four to five hours.

This is a very generous estimate of just following the primary story, without doing any companion, quest hub or side questing content.

Hope this helps!

Hi there, srayermann!

Thanks for your feedback!

We greatly appreciate our players input and perspective on our games as it helps us continue to create a better experience!

While I’m glad you found the spot eventually, it seems that the clues may be in need of a little bit of tidying up.

Thanks again for your input, and thank you for your support!

Hi there, Barrel’s Supremacy!

It’s super unfortunate that you’re having trouble locating the Cave of Io!

The cave is located underground, near a small pond in the north-west of Felodrift Northlands. You may have to climb to reach it!

We hope this helps you finish the quest.

If you need any other help, feel free to ask here, in our community discussions at our forums, here or in our Discord server, here

Thanks for playing, and thanks for supporting us!

Hi there samapatti,

It looks like that is a conflict with an outdated version of nwjs.

To fix this, you can try downloading version 0.43.6 from here: https://dl.nwjs.io/v0.43.6/nwjs-v0.43.6-linux-x64.tar.gz

Once downloaded, open the archive and extract the files over the top of the game folder, overwriting any files when asked.

Hopefully this should fix the issue and allow you to run the game!

If you still encounter any issues, please attempt to redownload the game as a new version with an updated nwjs library has been uploaded.

Thanks for supporting us!

Hi there samapatti!

The linux versions of the game can be a bit temperamental at times.

Sometimes the Game.desktop shortcut that is generated from the build decides not to work on some distros.

Try shift-clicking in the folder of the game, and click “Open in Terminal”, then type “./nw” and hit enter.

If this does not work, try making the file executable by running “sudo chmod +x nw” in the same terminal, then “./nw” again.

If that does not run the game then, the terminal should at least provide some insightful information to what else could be going wrong.

I’d be happy to provide any further assistance either here, or at our discord here!

Hey ToasterGnome,

Thank you for your message!

To stay up to date on the progress/status of our single player and MMO content, please consider joining the Discord Community: https://discord.gg/YZg4kt8Wpx

We hope to put a strong focus on expanding the world of Verdict in multiple ways.

It is our hope that our content will be able to be played by the widest audience possible, so we are developing our single player content and multi-player content in tandem, meaning that resources developed for the single player RPG are shared with the MMORPG.

We are aware of the significant expenses and costs involved with developing massively multiplayer online content, we value and appreciate our supporters. If you are interested in contributing, please check out our public donation page or Patreon.

We feel strongly that players who do not wish to participate in multi-player content, should receive equal attention as the Verdict series has it's origins in single player RPG content.

Thank you for supporting us, and thanks for supporting indie games!

Hi Aris,

Thanks for reporting these issues.

We're going to look in to the Encyclopedia crash and see if there is a way to resolve it.

As for the anti-virus showing a message upon opening the game/zip, this is common among more sensitive anti-virus products when a file has not been tracked in their database (and will eventually go away as more people open the file).

Thanks for your questions, and thanks for supporting us!

Hi Art926,

The same artist that drew the original 2D character art is also creating the 3D versions.

As for Graphics, we intend to strive for the best balance between performance and appeal.

Here are some examples of the current draft 3D models including Steif and Ghist:

Please be aware that this is a work in progress and likely not reflective of how the models will appear in-engine once shaded/lit.

For an example scene of the graphical style, there is a demo video on our VerdictGames website (if you pay close attention you might even recognize a certain priest of Basanir):

https://verdictgames.com/

We will try to update our community pages regularly as we have more to share.

Thanks again for your question, and on-going support!

Hi Art926,

Version 1.0 contains the prologue of Verdict of Silence, covering the story of how the main characters meet, as well as setting up most of the major characters and events that will take place in the whole story featured in the remake.

This story will be expanded upon for the remake and be larger as a whole, as well as continuing on from the end of Version 1.0.

As for the alternate costumes and sprites contained in the game files, we had originally planned a costume system as well as several levels of romantic cutscenes.

A majority of these scenes were cut as implementing them the way we wanted proved too difficult in RPGMakerMV - the only remaining content from this system is the hidden outfits for party members (which change both their sprite and often the way NPCs will react to them).

These systems will be present in the remake, including the romance options.

With all of our projects, we intend to include romance content and as development continues we will release adult content patches to replace vanilla content.

With version 1.0 there is no adult content or CGs outside of player/party member/NPC nudity. Sex is referenced and building relationships may lead to a cut to black style romance scene.

It is our hope as we continue to develop Verdict, to be able to offer our audience adult content patches to enable the game to be played by the widest possible audience while still maintaining the more adult content.

Thank you for your question, and thanks so much for supporting us!

Hi Art926.

Rest assured that VerdictGames will always have a large center focus around LGBT+ inclusion and push the boundries as far as mature content is concerned as far as possible for the platform that is being developed for.

Thanks for the question!

Hi there, art926.

Currently the project is under NDA and not publicly announced - but keep an eye out on the news page here and in the Discord as it will be announced there when it goes public.

Thanks for your question!

Hi there, The Lurking Dev.

ABSENCE: Verdict of Silence is still in our roster of in-progress games, but it has been sidelined slightly for another larger project.

You can expect some updates to the game (and news about our other projects) in the future.

Thanks for your question!

Hello Again art926!

New custom art work has been added to the majority of base game NPCs, in the newest update 0.2!

Thank you for your suggestion, and thank you for your support!

We're happy to let you know that in the 0.2a update of Verdict, several of your suggested features have been added, including:

  • An item to both repel and increase encounter rates
  • Catch up mechanics for new party members
  • Dialogue defaulting to requiring a key press before accepting input

Thank you so much for your suggestions, and thank you for supporting us!

Hi maxwelldaemon and beesalad,

Thanks for reporting this bug and letting us know about the series of events that caused it.

This should be fixed in version 0.2a.

Thank you for your comments and thank you for supporting us!

Hi beesalad,

We are glad you were able to continue this quest - however a note will be made in the future to provide a clearer and more concise set of indicators to the player in regards to finding the key pieces.

Thank you for your post, and thanks for your support!

Hi beesalad,

Thank you for reporting this issue.

We have looked into the quest and found that a certain series of actions can cause the quest to become stage locked.

This will be fixed in the next update.

Thank you for your post, and thanks for your support!

Hi beesalad,

Thank you for reporting this information - it will be very useful in tracking down the bug in the playtime counter.

We will see to getting this fixed as soon as possible.
