The world really would be a better place if people were less selfish and cowardly.

Maybe that is the case. Maybe the writer just wants them to grow into heroes late in the story. Idk. But I just don't get that vibe. There's a perverse twisted nature to the characters. And I know what you're thinking, "it's a porn game". Yeah. But this isn't a game about just plowing and nothing else. Great lengths have been taken to establish mystery, action, suspense and even a conspiracy in the mystery.
So call me crazy, but a lot of times, when faced with all that death and mystery, I'm more drawn to helping people than making love. I like Nancy, but she's no hero. None of them are. And after all the hours in I've spent, I don't see that changing until maybe the end. In my head I would buckle down and focus on just saving the people and stopping whatever tech they're using to enslave the other worlds or realities, if that's the case. I'd do anything to get the word out that it was all a sham. But that's me. Some people just wanna have fun. They don't care about right and wrong. They care about their own lives.
I'm not saying that it doesn't have heart as a game. But I want to see them do some good. It doesn't feel like they care to change things and make them better. More like they just wanna be famous. But you're right, I love half the cast at least. And some great comedy is in the script. But I'm not gonna pretend that these guys seem like the types to solve problems. More like they just want win the game. Maybe even to fill a void in their lives.
I still have a theory that all this, the whole game, is a game. Eternum is Orion's whole life. And he has to figure that out to escape it. In the reality it would be a big wake up call, that after killing his enemies and having a huge orgy with the ladies, he wakes up and he's a fat balding loser who runs a crappy company that adds problems to the environment or something. Not some cool lady's man. I'm starting to think even Chang isn't real.
that's probably the reason. But I just don't feel anything when I see it. It just seems like a lot of work to make someone else feel good and you imagining how they must feel. More assuming. Maybe if it was a 69 sex scenes that would make more sense to me. But when I saw Nova and Dalilah doing it the only attractive part was their facial expressions. I was completely numb to the actual act itself. And when I got oral once IRL at the end of high school, it didn't feel good that much either. I just kept waiting. Thinking about how everyone said this act was the greatest thing other than straight up sex. But nope, I didn't feel anything. It was like staring at a wall. That is why I play these games. I trying to figure out why after all these years I can't feel passion for sex anymore. Maybe if I could I would be able to get in a relationship again.
the MC of OIAL could have joined the company after it was made and used the book to make himself the new boss and/or the top CEO. And if all of the Orion's friends are NPCs in Eternum or just brainwashed players, they would only know what the company allows them to know. Not that I'm saying I'm right and you're wrong. I'm just saying we're getting unreliable narrator stories here.
In the end I just hope the new MCs don't let people suffer in Eternum for too long before they put an end to it. Right now they played for months. But if it turns out it's been years and years of people raped, killed, bribed, and lives scarred and ruined. I won't be happy about how that ends. Even if Orion becomes king of Eternum. If he doesn't do better than the corruption CEOs and cults and shameless psycho trolls like Thanatos then he is just oartnof the problem and not an MC I wanna play as.
Decided to try the game.
But no text appears when I try to start it. None at all. Even when I guess where buttons to click are and start a new game, not words appear.
EDIT
I downloaded it again and this time it came with the file folder "fonts".
All good now. Still just testing the game out to see if it's for me. I'm not sold yet given how things turned out in VIRTUES.
I agree.
Ever since I started the game too much syncs up with stuff from the first game. And the MC of OIAL was heavily implied to have just given up on the book. I don't think he has it. His life was going so well, he likely was distracted by his god-tier harem to make sure that the book was never stolen. Some scenes even implied it was just left out in the open. So yeah, someone has it. Or hell, maybe the MC of OIAL is the person who made Eternum and the company is made super successful by using the book.
Idk if they're the same person but stuff I'd implied to be the same with them. Harems. Cults in newspaper running amok. Awkward obsessions with things most people would shy away from. Like a game with corruption on the level of Las Vegas or a cult of psychos killing people. So for all we know the main char made the game, played it to test it, got bored with it being to EZ and made the game wipe his memory so he had to go in blind to win at the game the hard way as a rookie. Only to find he lost control of the game and now doesn't know that he has it wipe his memory in the first place. Meanwhile people are now playing the game and it's out of control.
Who knows what the hell is going on?
But i know I want the heroes of the game to focus on the real problems and not just dick around. Those gems of doom and this power struggle with the people in the game seems like a distraction to the real problems. Why did the company make a game like this at all that is a cesspool for evil and a quick way to get sued?
Before I download this I'd like to know what kind of sex and fetish/kinks are in it. I don't want a repeat of some other games where they SAY you have the option to be mean or rough with women. But then it turns out that's the default most with most of the lovers. I played some games where you're never told the MC is an asshole and boom, 20mins in and he's raping someone and you had no option to prevent it.
After years of porn, receiving a partial BJ, and now this game... I just have a question: "How is blowjobs any fun for the person giving the blow job?"
I've even asked the question on google to see if it have some incite. The most I can gather is, a person giving oral enjoys it because they have an oral fixation or like being in a submissive position or because they enjoy the knowledge that they're pleasing their lover.
Slight spoiler here.
Comparing the oral scene of this chapter and the one before. Two different women, two different outlooks on life. But both seemed to like it. No real reason was ever given. So I'm gonna make a educated guess based on what I know about Nova and Dahlia. Nova might be so lonely in her life that her mind has wandered all over the net and so she's seen tons of stuff but never experienced it first hand. So the thrill of doing anything sexy is a breath of fresh air for a person starved for companionship. Dahlia I think may be one of those type people who likes to be the best best something, no matter what it is. So if she is seen as the best at giving oral pleasure due to a lack of gag reflex, then she gets excitement from that. Why would either of them want cum in their mouth I can only assume is learned behavior and curiosity from watching porn.
End of slight spoiler.
I'm just guessing tho. I have no idea if that's the case with these two. Sometimes in games and movies people just do things and why they like them is never explains. The audience is just left to assume that they do them and like them because "we" the audience like them and want to see them. They're conduits for our entertainment. But I don't like thinking of it that way. Maybe it ruins the magic for some people, but I'd like to know what people like stuff they're into and why it feels good. Personally I'm pretty numb to most stuff. So it would help to understand more why something is supposed to be a turn on.
I like the humor in the games too.
But I just wish the heroes were more heroic. More driven by something other than sex and their ego. I have no idea what drives them to ignore the suffering of other in the game. All I can think of is that this is a bleak future where people are so jaded and apathetic they only care about themselves and hedonistically fixate on their fun times when one server over someone dies or gets raped. That's worrisome. And not the kinda characters I wanna play as.
In OIAL things were odd but you were trying to figure things out to stop the cult in case theyre threatened your family or the city you lived in. Or maybe even threaten the world. But ultimately you sleuth your way into a conspiracy and get help from lovers. That's fine. But this time the dynamic doesn't add up.
It's a game. Government ignores the shady stuff in it. Even the death. Even the rape. Even the child porn. Even the trafficking. And with a little money thrown around anyone can be silenced. Morales and integrity be damned. And then enter the hero and he's just a horny young adult who shrugs unless you attack him or her friends. If a rando in Canada is murdered by Thanatos, I don't think Orion will care. I'm not getting a lot of sympathy and compassion from the heroes of the story.
My hope if they are working to that or maybe these characters are anti-heroes who are selfish by design. I've only got an hour into the new chapter because I'm playing so many RPGs right now. But I am still determined to see the game thru. If I only played on game on my laptop, it would be this one (all my JRPGs are on PS4).
I see what you're saying. But unless the main characters are selfish or shortsighted, they know something is dead wrong about the game. Yet they log on again and again like addicts. They don't think "what am I doing giving money to a company that allows this". They don't think "all this evil and cruelty and I want to be a part of this community". They instead think, "I wanna hang out with my buddies and have sex and win fights and right and wrong are something for cops to deal with".
All someone would have to do is TELL me people get raped in the game ONCE and I would never buy the game. They even made it clear the cops in the game can't be everywhere and sometimes they get killed off. That's useless. That means might makes right. You can do whatever you want as long as you're OP. Even the admins won't stop you. Or someone would have stopped a lot of criminals in the game by now.
Given that, is it worth it? They really just wanna think like horny teens, even Nancy, and just play around and joke and have sex. Say they don't care to be heroes or compassionate or stick their neck out to help people in the game. Say all that. Okay, so why not just get rid of the game and hang out IRL? Why pay the company? Why put money in the pockets of an clearly corrupt company? Why be a part of the problem? It sicken me. I don't want to do it. I want to stop it and shut it down. But they players/characters just keep playing around and not seeing the big picture. It's so obvious. It's like they're on drugs and too addicted to see that they're on drugs. It's like walking into a room with a werewolf but because it doesn't attack you, you're okay with it. No questions asked, no alarm sounded.
Call me naive. Call me crazy. Call me a square or a fool. But given what they have seen in the game and the stuff that has happened to them that has felt real, I don't honestly think any of them should be playing anymore. Trauma and fear and hate for those moments should have taken their toll. And maybe they would want to prevent others from ending up scarred like that. I know I would.
So no, I don't care for sex in Eternum. I don't care how good it feels. I don't care if the characters like it. It feels like they're selling their souls to a company that is just giving them the wild west meets Mad Max and they're willing to pay $2500 for it just to get killed and raped with other players.
That's alarming.
I hope I'm wrong but everything about Eternum screams that everything in it is a distraction from the real problem. All the sex in the world doesn't change how evil most people are running around Eternum. Even the ladies with Orion seem like a distraction when he could be saving the world from an evil organization. Especially how they seem to keep implying how depraved sexually some of them can get. I mean Nancy getting a nickname of Saturn? As in Saturnellia? No something I can respect.
I do believe that Eternum and the school life stuff is all one game. But from the POV of those in the story who think otherwise, I wouldn't put too much stock in sex in the game. It's like how in .hack//GU where people got depraved and loved killing in the game so much that they formed guilds just to murder newbies and troll people. Now imagine a group of losers IRL get into Eternum and become god tier in the game and everyone respects them for playing the game so well. And they bang whores all day long when they're not in raids. In their mind they pat themselves on the back for all the sex and fame they get but it's not real. It's just you playing a sim.
Unless there's some big reveal that playing Eternum is just teleporting your real body to a real world somewhere in space, it's all fake. So no matter how much fame or sex you have, IRL you're still just some jackass. Sure they say you have to work out to become strong in the game. But that's not how magic works. So if you stick to just mage servers and use magic and never work out you don't even have to work that hard for that.
The main problem with Eternum is what everyone is glossing over in the game. For all the glitz and glamor and depraved sex and war, none of it will fill the voids in their lives. For every Lex Luthor wanna-be trying to rule Eternum, that's still not the world. You're not taking over the world. It's a game. For everyone Isekai-hero-wanna-be, being the strongest in the game still means someone could shoot your real body as you sleep in your bed. None of it matters.
It's smarter to stop Eternum and the people who made it than play around in it and become part of the problem. And it saddens me that even the heroes have drank the Kool-Aid on that front. None of them care about helping people or the very real problems in the game and the society it's ruining. They care about sex, money, and winning. Maybe the whole point of the game is to teach people to stop being apathetic or selfish. The actual game, not the game in lore.
If you have sex in Eternum it doesn't really count right? I mean your real body is in a bed wasting away while you play. So technically speaking, if a person went into Eternum a virgin, and they have sex there all the time, but not IRL, then they're still a virgin. They have simulated experience. Not ACTUAL experience. If sims counted for real life experience, then dating sim games would mean we all are dating women all the time and have harems in like 6 games. That's just not true. So if Eternum was real, I wouldn't see the appeal of sex in the game. You feel it, but it's not real. It's a simulation with another person playing a VR game. No more real than sex phone calls. Add to that with all the corruption and murder and cruelty, you're better off just sticking to real life.
Aaaaaand... I'm sticking to my original theory.
The main character has played Eternum before and the whole game, even the school life, is all still the game. He wipes his memory before going in, so he can't just use the same old tricks to win. He's beat it so much he had to wipe his memory just for a challenge. This new update SCREAMS at me that my theory is sound.
Problem is, I bet he doesn't see that the game has become an addiction. For him and the other playing it. In the end, he will have to shut down the game. And that's GAME OVER. No harem ending. Simply because, that would be wrong. Those are all characters. In the end, you turn off the game, and go live a real life. And free all those addicted to the game from your own creation. Your own beautiful Hell.
in Eternum I have no doubt a lot of it I will be into. At least on some level. I know from OIAL that this writer isn't into anything super depraved like gore porn or something. So I'm in it for the long haul. I wanna do better in this game than I did in OIAL, because I think I missed out on 2 romances in OIAL and I don't wanna do that here. But if I miss out on something for being too nice to the women (not peeping) or not into certain sex styles (like spanking, insults, ownership), I at least want to fully explore my favorite lover storylines. Which are Nancy, Luna, and Annie. Maybe Calypso.
I just don't like a person who is sticking their their guns. For Emma to in public stand up for feminists and be brave, for her to secretly want to be owned and used and treated badly is a turn off. I already passed up chances to have sex with her because I hated the never ending battle of the sexes war between her and the MC.
Deb, I totally agree. I don't mind a women on top of in charge in sex. But I don't wanna be denied cumming or treated as a prop or property. Not okay. So I have no choice but to ignore her. Even though I liked her until I found out what she likes.
I get what the author is trying to do with the game. But ultimately it prevent someone like me to thrive in the game. My likes in sex and romance are much more subtle. And the game doesn't acknowledge a person like me. It more goes for people who like to go all in on whatever kink they like. But for a person who doesn't like most kinks and never goes beyond vanilla, that person is stuck in situations they hate. And with the illusion of choice. Next chapter I'm gonna have to dump lots of the girls and stick to just Lea. But that is simply because that's the only option left to me. That or watch scenes I don't like. Maybe it would have been better to reveal what every lover likes from the start so a person who isn't into none of their kinks would never buy the game. I'm happy with Lea. But is she alone enough to play thru a whole game? I guess. But barely.
In the end I'll probably just fly thru every update now that Lea is all I'm into. So if a chapter comes with her barely in it, I'm thinking I'll be play that chapter for about 2 hrs.
