I'm happy you like my game.  It was difficult to get a complicated game like this in one week, so the simulation balance and the user interface isn't the best.
It a tipical project what very fun to develop so I will update it soon. I will add more settings (like food spawn rate, sun multiplier, starvation multiplier), more cells (like more ligic cells, maybe pheromon producing for organism communication), UI and visualisation (brain), records (like biggest organism, highest energy, smartest organism). I will update the documentation soon.
And the growing energy cost is basically the energy cost of one cell, but affects more things too.
