Hello!
First of all, I want to say that I am excited that you wrote to me! and above all that you like my work! I discovered Cubosphere since it was in its alpha version, and I have followed its development all these years, even when there were no more updates. Also in one of the beta versions (I don't remember if it was beta 0.1, or 0.2) I helped with the translation into Spanish. At that time I was just starting my university career and, after so many years and with much more experience, I decided to try to revive Cubosphere around July of last year. And this is the result so far!
It certainly took me a long time to add the credits, but that will be solved in the next update, in which I have added everyone who was in the Cubosphere credits, plus those who have participated now. Of course you also appear in the credits!
I really made the levels from scratch, some are very similar to those from Kula World, and others to one from Cubosphere, but I really made them all from scratch until world 6. From world 7 onwards, more people began to design levels from scratch. part of me.
Anyway, I would love to be able to add the Cubosphere levels to the game, perhaps as a separate campaign. I designed a tool capable of transforming a level created in Cubosphere to the Rollingucbe format. It's not perfect, but it almost always generates very similar levels and is very useful for importing levels!
Also anyone can create a level pack and then play it within Rollingcube. The game has a section that allows you to play packs that other users have created.
I thought about uploading the game to Steam, but investigating I saw that it could cause legal problems even if all the assets were made from scratch, since it would still be similar in concept to Kula World, and I think there have been other attempts that have had problems with this, so I decided to leave it on itch.io, totally free so we can all enjoy it. At the end of the day, I do this because I love this game and I want to share it with everyone!
If you want to add levels, create or test anything, of course you are welcome!
I hope you enjoy the game! In the version you downloaded you have 12 worlds to explore! And in the update that I'm about to upload (I don't know if it will be today or tomorrow, but as soon as possible) you will have more than 200 new levels to play! Although I'm sure you recognize them, because they come from Kula World! ha ha.
I'm also on Discord. If you have an account or are on a server, I can add you without a problem!
At last! After a few months we have here the next version of Rollingcube!
In this version 0.2 we will have a few interesting new features, some of which are the following:
- Languages: The game is now in Spanish, English and German. New languages will be added with successive updates.
- 6 new worlds: The number of worlds in the main campaign has been expanded, now having a total of 12.
- Remastered themes: Some of the new themes are remastered versions of original Kula World themes.
- Theme Night redesigned: The Night theme has been redesigned, changing both the tiles and the skybox.
- Achievements: An achievement system has been added. There are a total of 42, some of which are achieved in the arcade mode, others consist of collecting a certain number of items (for example keys or coins) and others require performing certain actions during a level. Will you be able to get them all?
- User Packs: Also called User Campaigns. Now the game will have a menu where you can play campaigns created by other players! For now there is no in-game way to create them, although there are plans to add a campaign editor in a future update. The game will include an example campaign that any user can use as an example to create their own.
- Status Effect Display System: A new system that shows the effects and states that the ball may have during the game, for example if it is burning or if you have picked up sunglasses. These effects will be displayed at the top left of the HUD during levels.
- Editor Improvements: Some improvements and additions to the level editor. Like a menu that asks if you want to overwrite a level that already exists.
- Restart levels: Levels can now be retried at any time by accessing the pause menu and selecting the "Restart Level" option. Levels can also be restarted after completing them, on the points screen, as long as it is a normal level (not Bonus or Secret).
These are just some of the new features that this new version brings. I invite you to discover them all!
Starting with this version, every time a new game update is available, a message will appear in the main menu indicating that there is a new update, and where to download it.
You will be able to download this new update from 12/15/2023 at 7:00 pm GMT+1
I hope you enjoy this new update!
I will be attentive to your comments!
Thanks for the feedback! There are still many things to adjust, so it is possible that the movement will end up being modified slightly. Anyway, in the options you have "camera lag". If you deactivate that option, you may feel the movement more similar to that of Kula World!
It is true that the volume is not saved well. It's already solved for the next update!
On the YouTube channel I usually post videos with previews of what will arrive for the next update, in case you want to take a look!
There's very little left until you can try Rollingcube! I'll be releasing the first early access version on itch.io in about 2-3 weeks!
This first release will probably be ready for the first half of October, first or second week.
Until then, here is the official rollingcube YouTube channel, where you can watch videos showing the progress and news!
