The gloomy and oniric ambiance was really really cool and inspiring! Loved the chara designs too 😌🌹✨
(I planted 599 flowers, and got the Indigo rose and pendant; i guess i missed one key object??)
Hello!!
For this DevTober, I want to realize a point'n'click game on GDevelop., based on a concept I'm working on for a charadesign class.
This will be my first game working as a solo dev. Actually I'm a game & level design student based in France, and I've worked on three game jams before, mainly on graphism and animation.
🌝 What is Be Part of My Design ?
It's game taking place in a dystopic and surrealist world. You, the player, are grafted to another body, living as a parasite. You wake up in the middle of nowhere, no sign of life in sight, not knowing why you are here. You're realizing that the other head, Midas, is talking to you, but you can't answer, you only have control of his arms.
Not being able to do anything else, other than look around, you will have no choice but to cooperate with this stranger, making you perform tasks that you don't even understand the meaning.
This game will flirt with horror, influence by Hylics, and other Mason Lindroth's works. It will contained a bit of narration and five mini games. The title may change.
👁 Softwares I'm going to use :
I'll work on GDevelop for programming, Photoshop and TVPaint for the graphisms.
🚀 My goal :
Developping and finishing a small game by myself, a minimum pleasant to play, and graphically cool (to me). To be honest I'm not even sure I'll finish the game in time, but I'll do my best to do so.
🦑 Now? :
Here I'm still working on the game design and planning what to do. It's been a week or two that I think about participating to DevTober, but just before I participated in a local game jam.
In next updates, I wish to present you more about the lore, the graphic and game design researches. I'll try to update this topic once or twice every week. See yooou!

Thank you for your feedback!! I'm glad you like the chosen musics and sound effects (i thought the sound FX are kinda "cheap") and that a nice atmosphere emerges; i guess it the whole (including the visuals) gives a kind of 2000s RPG Maker games vibe or something like that x)
(if you want here is a "fake" gameplay done on After Effects, in which i setted the art as we intended during the jam (we couldn't implemented everything well at time) ;) : https://youtu.be/CmdOYf9AABY )
Thank you for your feedback!!
The game was intentionnally done as "non-ambitious", because it was our first game jam working with someone else, our goal was only to finish the game in time, no matter it was specially fun or interesting :)
I don't think we will work on this game again, but I totally agree with you that it deserves to have more complex mechanics (like different behaviors for each type of chess pieces , for example), etc etc
Thanks!!
(here is a link to a "fake" gameplay of the game, in which the art is setted as we intended (we couldn't implemented everything well at time), and the animations are more visible on my last post on instagram) https://youtu.be/CmdOYf9AABY
Yes, it would have been more interesting to have different behaviors depending specific to eac kind of chess pieces!
Thank you so much!!
If you want, I did a fake gameplay video, in which you can see what the game should have look, and there are a kind of "defeat the king animation" and a victory screen (you can see better the animation in my last Instagram post too)

And you can find the music here ;) :
Hello Oliver, I’m really glad you'd want to work with me!!
No problem, to be honest I don't really care if the game is really small (as long as it's finished) or even if it's not fun to play, since it's my first time, my goal is just to begin with a cool first experience :)
Perfect, let's do this like this!
Do you prefer to establish a context of the game (random example : futuristic western taking place in Germany where the characters are flowers) and then establish mechanics from that, or the opposite ?
Answer me directly if you prefer on discord (mine is Rémi#2241) (or on another social media if you want)
Hello!! If you need someone for the visuals of your game, I'm here!
I can do 2D art (pixel art, traditionnal or digital) in any style, and animate. I work on Photoshop, Aseprite, After Effect and TV Paint.
Here's a link of my instagram, where I post a bit of my works : https://instagram.com/kreaki_
Also, I'm a total newbie in game jam, it will be my first one.
