Thanks for pointing out the break in the water sfx, I'll remember to watch out for those small details in the future :) If you DM me in Discord (@Marco in the EC Jam server), I can give you a list of the codes.

Also, I saw your game on the stream, and it was amazing how well you implemented the  diegetic UI elements. I really liked it!

By the way, the development team has a Discord server for those interested : https://discord.gg/DKqr89z

Its a cool game with an entertaining mechanic, but there are some things to keep a lookout for.

  • This time traveling mechanic is the entertaining part of the game, and I liked that you centered a lot around it (the crumbling walls, dragon, vines...). Being teleported back to the time-traveling position is fine in itself, but having to walk from that spot to the next part with the slow movement speed really do break the immersion.
  • The puzzles are neat and mostly unique, and the sprites are detailed, which is something that I respect.
  • My only major problem is the game breaking bugs (which I understand due to game jam and timing):
    • 1.interacting w/ adjacent dirt tiles places seeds underneath player (when done at the dirt tiles in the crumbling wall halfway through allows 2nd-level vine that can push the player into the wall and force a reset)
2.after the double gate,  at the part with the dragon and a block that you can push past the gate, you can lock the wizard to the left of dragon's breath while man is on the right and the block is pushed past the gate (again forcing a reset)

Up until that point, the game was rather enjoyable, so if you had more time to fix these problems, I think the game would turn out to be great.

This is a pretty good attempt for your first game jam (my first game was a lot worse than this haha). Controls are mostly solid, the gameplay elements are entertaining, and in general just need polishing (which is hard to do well in a game jam). I am against taking tools from the player in most cases, but in this case it fits the theme and isn't that challenging with simple left/right, making it tolerable.

This game has valuable gameplay and is a good choice for learning how to make these core mechanics. Keep up the good work!

Oh! Sorry about that, I was rushed for the jam that I probably forgot to empty that file. Thanks for catching that :) Anyways, I'm glad that you enjoyed the experience :)

There's potential for this game, and I'd like to see it become a full game too. However, I did feel that changing seasons took a little too long, so maybe you can shorten the animation or allow the player to choose the season via 1,2,3,4 or some other keybind.

very nicely made, the tilted camera made it a little harder to count tiles from the knight, but I guess that's part of the challenge

If you ever made a giant level, save points are probably things to consider, but right now the short respawn makes the process not very painful.

Surprising interesting and fun for a Discord multiplayer text-adventure. Probably because we have nice and respectful dialogues but are also competitive.

Hi Phil! I'm glad that you like the game, and thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely make the background darker for the instructions so that it is easier to read. As for the other points:

  • You can actually "squeeze" your way out of the box. I gave the player infinite ammo on the title screen for this reason ;) (I might expand the title screen in the future, but it is currently just the small environment.)
  • If you pay attention the the UI on the top-left, you'll notice that "particles" refer to your ammo. The reload is indeed a timer.

If you have any more suggestions feel free to post them here and/or join the Discord server for this game: https://discord.gg/DKqr89z

Check it out here!: https://lammarco.itch.io/forceslinger

Harness the power of physics in ForceSlinger. Features recoil from a particle launcher, pendulums (representing circular motion), Magnus force, and even an upgrade that bends the rules of time!

---Features---

  • momentum/acceleration based movement
  • metroidvania elements
  • collect powerups
  • special challenging areas
  • bosses to defeat (some are even physics instruments)
  • point system (speedrun if you can!)

We have a Discord server for those interested in the game: https://discord.gg/DKqr89z

The demo part of the game is done, but we have tons of future content and need playtesters! Join the Discord or email me if interested!
