Hi! This jam is a cool opportunity to dive deeper into the Polymorph system, and I'm excited! However, I have some concerns I'd like clarification on, just to make sure I'm not infringing on anything...

Looking at the Free License you provide here on your website, I don't see anywhere how to state that a game has been "built with Polymorph." I know other systems often have such a clause, within the game itself and/or its description text, but couldn't find one here. Is there a template you'd like us to follow for that? Do you even require it, outside including the "Built with Polymorph" image?

On a related note, where should we obtain that image? There's a version of it in the license PDF, but I don't see a place to download a high-quality transparent version of it. (The link above has a larger image combined with your logo... except there it says "powered by," not "built with"!) Could you include the required logo with the license and/or here on the jam page?

Finally, the license asks us to email contact@9thlevel.com if we make a Polymorph game... but I'm assuming that, as you folks will see all the submissions here, that step would be redundant? πŸ˜… (I know it's already optional, but I don't want to pester you if such an email will merely make you see double!)

Thanks, and hopefully these questions aren't too nitpicky! Looking forward to building with Polymorph πŸ”ΊπŸŸ§πŸ”·πŸ’Ž

No worries; I've definitely been there!! I appreciate the prompt prompt fix πŸ˜‰

Ope! And there we go, it's there now lol

just for closure on this: it's "All My _______ is Here to Stay"

Hi! This looks really cool, and I'd like to participate!! However, it says that a theme will be announced... and I'm not finding it anywhere πŸ˜…

Will that be on the front page? Is there a change in plans? Just trying to plan out my timeline for this project... Thanks!

Oh my goodness, I'm honored! Thank you so much!!

Aww, thank you so much!! I'm so glad you like them ☺️

I'm glad you like this! And hell yeah, Motor Monk seems awesome! I could totally see the drama of looking on as he's forced to balance between force shifts lest he become permanently stuck in vehicle mode, but missing out on critical life moments because of a poorly timed transformation...

Thank you so much! I will absolutely submit this to the jam. Heck, I'll probably submit something else too...

Aww, thanks Beth! I'm so glad you've found your way! πŸ₯Ή It sure can be a struggle, but hopefully one everyone can learn to overcome. πŸ’–

Thank you so much, Schwa! I'm so glad there's some good eggs in this messy nest 🀍

Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy it again and again... and again..... and again.......

lmao 🀝🀝 sliding under the massive closing door like Indiana Jones

Thanks for giving it a look! And you're more than welcome to help yourself to a Free Gift copy if you'd like. πŸ’š

Then... just do so??

I am so glad that this resonated with you! πŸ’š Yes, it can be quite hard to break the habit of telling ourselves what we've so often heard, especially when thrown at us with such force... But I too have been learning how to replace those voices with ones that truly bring value to my life, instead of simply declaring it.

Though this road has many rough patches, always know that you are far from the only one to travel it. Hopefully with enough footprints, we'll wear it flat for future travelers together. 😊

Lol, imagine complaining about the annoyance of mandatory repetitive labor in a game dedicated to literally emulating the Sisyphean experience πŸ˜‚

Aaaaaagh, work and COVID have made my life too crazy this last month... I'm so upset that I just barely missed this, seeing as superhero stuff is my favorite!! 😫😭 Is there any chance I might be able to squeeze in a late entry? I've heard such a thing is apparently possible in certain situations, but I don't know if this fits...

Here's a link to the game I'd like to submit: https://lxnrhinners.itch.io/bedo-hero

It's okay if this is just a missed opportunity, but I'd love to get in on this if I still can! I'd love to be in company with all the other gorgeous submissions. πŸ˜ Thanks!

That's super cool!! Masks rocks lol. Thanks for letting me know! ☺

This is awesome!! I've found some very cool characters in here. 😁

One thing I'm noticing is that (at least for Chrome on desktop), some things become "stuck" and not randomize when clicking the "randomize" button. After some experimentation, it seems it's mostly favorite music genre and color. (However, "modifiers" to the color will still appear — e.g. it will stay stuck on purple, but change from "purple" to "dusty purple" to "pastel purple", etc.) If I refresh the page in the browser instead of using the button, it will change whatever's stuck to a new outcome... but then clicking the Randomize button goes back to once again keeping it stuck.  But then again, maybe this is a feature to ensure all your generated buddies coordinate in fashion and playlist preference! πŸ˜†

Another thing which may just be a feature I'm "abusing": in my many test clicks of the Randomize button, it seems that the 14 different items in the "Signature look" slot eventually "run out," eventually replacing each one with "(No more items in the consumable 'signaturelook' list)" as the signature look aspect. But again, this is only a problem if you're creating like, 7 or more characters in a row. This is another quirk that's bypassed by refreshing the whole page rather than using the button.

Hopefully these observations are useful rather than nitpicky... Thanks for making this, it's quite the fun tool! πŸ±β€πŸ‘€

And thank YOU for writing this lovely review!! β™₯ I'm glad the royal themes came through πŸ˜‰ The idea of meta bullets fascinates me (as I'm sure it would for Rathayibacter as well): bullets that lets you swap out your character sheet, bullets that let you rewrite an uncomfortable scene, bullets that burst into instances of other games... Feather Bullet is also really cool!

Thanks so much for your feedback! As it stands, the idea is that set-aside cards would just shuffled to form a new deck once the original deck runs out. Many games do this, but I failed to specify when and how; I'll make sure to do that!

It's funny that you suggest having cards retain meanings, because that's actually one of the main new mechanics I have planned for the revamp I'm working on!  Great minds think alike I suppose 😁 Every time a face card appears, the group will create an NPC to assign to it tied to its suit, who either is present in the scene or whose actions have directly caused the situation they're in. Then whenever that same card comes up again, it means that character has returned. I'm glad to hear that such a concept readily suggests itself, as it'll make it that much easier for new players to learn and use!

This sounds awesome!! I love the idea of blending real-life responsibilities with game-incentivized strategy — especially doing so in a way where acting according to the game actually encourages thoughtful consideration of the tasks you feed in.

I hope to see more of this!

Wow, this sounds great!! I love when cards can be used in multiple ways, and this takes it to the max! [80's guitar riff, explosion]

I also really like the experimentation in how to cost and provide content. That was a big inspiration for me going into this: How can we get and give the CCG experience without having to pay rent to our random foil dealers every week? Making all non-rares PWYW is super intriguing... Just make sure you're aware of any content rights that TGC might impose. But I'm excited to see where you take this!

Lol, sometimes convoluted is what makes it fun! Also, who said these games (or game-like creations) need to be playable? πŸ˜‰ But if you would rather not submit multiple projects or don't feel comfortable sharing the original, you're of course more than welcome to submitting whatever you'd like.

All things accessibility! If you have any ideas you want to share regarding how to make card games more accessible — size considerations, text requirements, graphic design, coloration, iconography, language, etc. — share it here! I really want to prioritize making games open to as many people to enjoy as possible.

I'll start by sharing these great layout tips I was given permission to borrow from Dylan Kirk over on the Facebook group Art & Graphic Design for Tabletop Games. I found them incredibly insightful on what to keep in mind with how designs translate to physical objects that are then handled and moved, and how to account for that.

(For those who might not know, the "bleed" borders refer to where images purposely extend past where they will be trimmed to allow ink to extend all the way to the edge of the card, without needing to perfectly align the cutter with the card image down to the millimeter.)

Do you have any ideas on how to help make sure we keep our games usable and fun across a wide scope of players, or things you've seen that you thought were great implementations of how others have made this happen?

That is amazing!!! To this day I still love browsing wikis and BoardGameGeek images for card games I've never played and in all likelihood never will, just to love the cards themselves and the idea of extracting a character or phenomenon into some sort of mechanized bundle of rules and numbers.
I'm definitely interested in exploring what you've done with what Catalyst provides/implies! πŸ‘€ You could also submit to #NotAGameJam2020, where Natalie first submitted Catalyst. You might find interest in another Catalyst "expansion," "The Forgotten Village" by Colton Flick.

Oh wow, what a cool concept!! Yes, a game that can use *any* CCG cards... One big reason I wanted to do this was because the consumable nature of many CCGs leave me sadly staring at my now outdated cards... Please breathe life back into these beauties and show them they're still loved! ❀

I love that idea! I'm a huge fan of everything random generator, so when Keyforge came out my brain sort of exploded lol. Even if the cards produced don't work at all as a whole, it's still fun just to imagine the awesome synergies that… maybe exist, somewhere… 😜

CCG Jam community Β· Created a new topic What are your plans?

Hey everyone! This is a space where people can discuss what sort of project they're planning to make. You can also see if others would be interested in collaborating, either by teaming up on the same project or by making projects that complement/combine with others' projects (such as making a new format of play for someone else's game, or detailing the exact rules of the CCG within someone else's CCG-based-anime RPG).

Thank you for this! I'm delighted that you made this little hack, it's so good!! Love that you found ways to further evoke the mysteries of this world... I'm really glad you got so inspired to envision these yet-unexplored aspects of the game and what they might mean and look like. Heck, I just might have to use this next time I play!

I find it hard to find time for playing games, but I finally did for this one. From start to finish, it wrung me out and stung like the best of films. I finally look at the clock again, once it's over: 45 minutes had passed.

You know when you delicately place a morsel of rich food in your mouth, and it takes you a full minute before you open your mouth or eyes again, and you feel like you got more from that one bite than from most meals?

This game does that.

Pay for it. Give it your time. I promise it will give more back, if you let yourself savor it. I look forward to savoring this game again.
