Thank you for listening, taking my response into consideration, and responding to the other person in a more thoughtful manner without trying to be mean-spirited about it.

Since you asked, when you say “I’m sorry” in both of your comments that phrase comes off as being used as a buffer for wanting to say something condescending and passive aggressive. The tone in your comments still try to make them out to be as if they are in the wrong to be upset and an “apology” doesn’t automatically debuff that.
So if you want to apologize with sentiments along “I’m sorry you feel that way,” don’t, because that is a non-apology. An apology comes from recognizing WHY someone is upset, acknowledging something upsetting did happen without putting the other person down, and not trying to come off as mean-spirited about it.
Even in your comment to me, there is still the tone of trying to absolve responsibility for the tone and words used because you “don’t know what it’s like” and claim ignorance. I suggest reading through the other reviews without any intention to criticize the words of dissatisfaction from others or defend the game and try to see it from their perspective and even replace those triggers with something else that upsets you to see if you can relate. If you want to still play the “I don’t get it” card, that’s something you need to work on yourself, not some random person on itch should be teaching you.
That’s how I feel about this too. I can handle dark topics and horror movies but this was presented in such a terrible fashion as this game was shown as something more comfy.
I played this when it DIDN’T have trigger warnings and didn’t come off as horror. Trigger warnings need to be shown up front. Even when I see any type of talk about this game, people don’t say it’s horror, WHICH IS IMPORTANT. When I got to the end of the suicide ending I was pissed because it wasted my time. Like, I’m still mad whenever I come across anything related to this game.
The other person was passive aggressive af. “I’m sorry you feel that way…” Well how about you learn what a real apology is, please and thank you.
I agree with you. That was my experience and this was my first exposure to her work.
I went in blind before this page was revamped and got the unalive ending. It was such a shock because of how abruptly the tone changed. There was lack of foreshadowing as well.
I can handle horror but I think the warnings should’ve been more visible so others don’t get the genre of game wrong. Otherwise people with delicate sensibilities towards certain topics will get exposed them in the game anyway in a much more shocking manner which is a worse surprise.
I don’t think I’ll trust this creator’s games in the future because of how this was handled.
It was a fun play. I really enjoyed the game. Thanks Manechans for the good time, it was quite a rollercoaster.
Gender: Gender neutral (They). Any gender can play.
Romance: Barely. You could take some things as romantic if you wanted to but I wouldn't call this an otome game or the likes.
Warnings: It gets gory and dark. This game was made with Halloween in mind (HallowTempus).
Play time: about 10 minutes or less for each route. I would give it about 1 hour or around there to get through the whole game.
My route order recommendation: 1-2)Exiled Prince and Showman 3)Abandoned Automaton 4)Karasu Demon 5)Demon King 6)Huntsman
Yeah I forgot about this game until I logged back into my kickstarter account. Then I went to check this page for any updates and I see absolutely nothing has progressed for 2 years.
I looked on their twitter and the team that worked on Dorakone (the GxG game that was developed during Caramel Mokaccino) were: @KittyandTea, @petitscygnes, @adirosette, @DejiNyucu, and @JWhitnee.
Everyone except for Deji and KittyandTea are still active on those Twitter accounts, are working on other things, and won't reply to any inquiries about the project. Safe to assume the project is dead now.
Agreed! I've lost count of how many times I've played Our Life and its DLCs as well. I love the customization in that game too.
With the newly announced polyamory option in Our Life 2, on top of customizing the type of relationship the protagonist can have with the friends/love interests, I'm sure that game will be a really long write too. GBPatch has quite the work ethic too to be able to get betas out every month on her Patreon and in the very least she's communicative with her progress and breaks. Major props! ^^
That was so informative. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us on the development of this game! I appreciate the sharing of your experiences and how you went about it and got through it. I think it's worth rereading these posts in case I ever got stuck somewhere myself. Being driven enough to try to stay consistent for nine novel-length routes over the course of several years sounds so daunting and challenging. I think Gilded Shadows is unique in that regard alone and releasing banger after banger is quite a feat.
As for the game I personally found it a year ago and thought this game was so long already even though not all the routes were completed. I was in no way unsatisfied because I loved each route. They helped me cope through a tough time and even now when I'm better I still enjoy them very much. I loved the customization and it's amazing how much work was put into it. The writing is also very phenomenal and I fell in love with the stories, settings, and each character including the protagonist. Thank you so much for it. I'm glad to be able to enjoy this really amazing work.
I enjoyed the new features and content so far, loved what was done with the character creator too. It looks more clean and it's nice to be able to save colors. I noticed there were more hair options compared to when I last played it. I like that a lot.
I have a request and hope it's not too much to ask. I like to play on Android and the side menu/gameplay options are really small on the screen. For example the "auto" "log" "skip" "save" buttons and such. I have to put the phone closer to my face to read the buttons. Is it possible to make those buttons a bigger size on Android so they'd be easier to read? Thank you 🥺
I played this on Steam but I love this game so much. Each character is so lovable! I hadn't heard about this game until I got news of its release, but when I heard about it I immediately went and purchased it! No regrets! This game is definitely replayable with how lovable they all are. It's interesting to find out more about the main character's abilities as well in every route. I put in a bit of time each day to play this game and I looked forward to it! This is already one of my favorite games.
Hi, sorry I just saw this!
I haven't done it lately on Android so I have no idea if it's changed or if there's a new way, but for me each DLC worked one at a time and will overwrite the other. They will not work all at once.
So if you have Step 1 DLC active and then apply Step 2 DLC, then only Step 2 DLC will be active while Step 1 will be inactive. Then if you reapply Step 1 DLC, then Step 2 DLC will be inactive. If you jump straight to Step 3 DLC from Step 1 DLC, then Step 3 DLC will be active but Step 1 DLC will be inactive again.
What I did was progress through the game with one DLC active then applied the next DLC as I went (preferably before I entered the next Step at the transition). My save files were fine, I just changed which DLCs were active.
So each time you want to play a certain DLC you will have to reapply it if it's not active.
Hey guys, I think they have completely stopped this project. About 3 years ago (2017) I asked for a refund before the routes were released (lack of activity from what I saw) and one of them told me they were considering releasing on a route to route basis for people who already paid.
They did follow through with that, but like everyone else I haven't had an update since 2 of the routes were released. I only paid $10 at the time (I think it was a preorder or a special?) and consider it fulfilled due to the 2 route releases and that they did correspond with me when I contacted them at the time.
For prospective buyers, I wouldn't recommend dropping money on this if you're expecting a full game since it's been 2 years (Feb 2018) since the second route was released. It's not really worth the $20 as currently advertised.
So I remembered this game but had uninstalled the demo off my Android sometime ago after seeing a post about it on r/otomegames (I kept it on my phone for months until I needed to make space lol). I really enjoyed the demo, but I forgot the game's name so I looked around trying to find it and replay it haha. I am pleasantly surprised with the new additions to the demo since I last played it and I'm glad you guys are still working on this project! I have had no blips or errors while playing through the demo this time and I'm glad for it! The demo was so addicting too, I played it late at night even though I had work in the morning lol. I'm looking forward to its release! I still love the graphics and the addition of partial voice acting and more dialogue options are nice too. I love the versatility of the dialogue and how choices can affect Cove. So interesting, I can't wait to play this over and over! :)
Ah I'm really late in seeing this, just logged in again. Still can't see it on Google Chrome, but I see another user said that used Windows 10 and could see it on their Google Chrome browser. Maybe that contributes as well, I'm using a Windows 7 laptop. Also it's nice to see that you're interactive with people who are commenting! :)
