It's still in the works, kinda on the backburner for a few months for freelance work but - building this game is the thing i want to do the most - i still have a bunch of work to do but i'll prob do another devlog again soon to let ppl know i'm still super motivated with it. and thanks for the comment, it means a lot!
Hello again, after holiday break I made it a priority to make free downloadable windows and mac builds for the Dormant Utility Service Technician demo/trailer, in addition to updating the web version. I fixed the terrain in just a couple places to make it a little more fair when using keyboard instead of controller. If you need it, there's a controls guide on the page. Hope you get a chance to check it out and thanks for this thread. :)
Hello, I'm new to Itch and to this thread, but here is my first offering: Dormant Utility Service Technician (demo)
It's just a little atmospheric 2d platformer, mostly chill (no combat) I call it a "casualvania"
The demo is about getting hired to become a service technician in deep space, but the main game (WIP) is about what happens after you go in cryo for some years, waking up and doing the objectives, which are things like repairing automated equipment on remote parts of the galaxy.
The demo is free to play in browser, and can be completed in full in about 15 minutes

Hello, my name's Mike. I'm a beginner dev, about a year into this project, so i decided to try and make a demo. The game is called Dormant Utility Service Technician, it's a chill 2D platformer about a sci fi future, where Fig, the main character lives on a planet where the rent's cheap (because the surface is unlivable) so they live in sky "pods" which are tiny apartments in the sky. Anyway, this is the prequel, where you end up getting recruited to become a Dormant Utility Service Technician - they to sleep in cryo for several years and then wake up in a remote galaxy where they have to do repairs/maintenance on automated tech out there (platforming/exploration/puzzle/etc)
It's mostly casual, although there are some platforming challenges, and it acts like a mini(non-combat) metroidvania, so i call it "casualvania"... Anyway, it's short and sweet, with some story and npc's to chat with. The full game is a long way out, with a top down overworld and a few planets to visit, and making it all DIY without knowing how to do it is a "not good" way to go about making a game, but I'm inspired so I'm just gonna roll with it.
It works with keyboard or controller and can be finished in about 15 minutes. Feedback is welcome.
there is no fighting, but there IS dangers and unspeakable terrors!
