Good first entry! I was unable to escape the facility but had fun trying.
Some feedback on the controls. Since I control both the Arrow keys and Mouse with my right hand, I found moving and shooting to be awkward. I'd recommend either adding WASD along with Arrows for movement or add an alternate means of shooting (such as Space bar), or both if you are so inclined.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. The enemies coincide with the different chess pieces and I tried to translate piece movement into level of difficulty - Pawns are Weak the Queen is strongest. I also set it up so that the not Pawn enemies spawn according to piece count, 2 Rooks, 2 Bishops, 2 Knights, 1 Queen, and the King. I'm planning on adding block functionality this weekend - last item on the to do list ... well maybe not ... adding menu cursor to the to do list.
The lag is a know issue with Lecode's LeTBS plugins. I've reduced the scopes of the skills so it shouldn't hang as much.

I to discovered friendly fire through killing myself. You're meant to be a little squishy and suffer the occasional death. How often you have died will eventually factor into the story and unless it happens within the first few battles there is no tangible penalty for dying in the submission other than having to retrace your steps a bit. There actually a little bit of a teaser for future plot if you do die.
