I am tweaking the prompt for the game below to simulate the adventures of an orphaned child of greek/arabian parents during the time of the first crusade in 11th century damascus on a quest to learn about history and current events and become a healer or scholar based on the works of Avicenna (father of medicine) and AlKhawarizmi (father of algorithms and computers).

The game engine leverages an LLM (Large Language Model), like GPT-4, to generate narrative, simulate dialogues, manage game state changes, and provide rich and immersive game experience. Here's a high-level overview of how it works:

1. Game State Management: At its core, the engine maintains a game state that includes player attributes, NPC details, game quests, inventory, timeline, and world state. Each turn, the engine inputs the current game state to the LLM. The LLM generates the narrative for that turn, and any changes in the state are recorded and updated. For example, if a player chooses to interact with an NPC, the engine updates the 'met' field for that NPC. The engine also handles conditional states such as quest completion or time progression.

2. Narrative Generation: The LLM is used to generate engaging and dynamic narrative. It takes into account the current game state and generates output in a structured format, incorporating world description, character's personal history, historical and immediate events, and ongoing quests. The output is both descriptive and narrative, painting a rich picture of the game world that progresses within a historical narrative dictated by real historical events.

3. Dialogue Simulation: The LLM can also be leveraged for dialogue generation between the player character and NPCs. Depending on the game state and NPC characteristics, the LLM generates appropriate dialogues that are consistent with the NPC's personality and the overall storyline.

4. Visual Narrative Generation: The game engine can also be linked to a generative AI model for creating visual content, like DALL-E or similar. Based on the text narrative and dialogue generated by the LLM, the visual AI generates corresponding images or even videos, which help visually represent the ongoing events in the game. This AI can be trained to generate visuals in a certain style to match the game's aesthetic.

This is my first game jam, I've been working on a concept for a few days and I thought this is a great place to take it forward with some great people. I have a little python knowledge and have been playing with prompts.

I've developed a prompt for GPT4 which turns it into a text-based adventure game engine, it's not a novel idea I know, but I think I've hit a few buttons in my prompt worth exploring.

Picture a game where AI creates the story, visuals, and sounds in real-time based on the player's choices. A world where the game evolves with you, changing every time you play.

I'm looking for help with coding, refining the mechanics, then adding the layers for image/video generation.

I think developing a proof of concept that provides a semi coherent experience in two weeks will be fun, and we will definitely have fun exploring solutions to problems like maintaining the storyline, keeping track of quests and inventory, etc.
