You write very inquisitive and intriguing works. It's nice to meet you! I think I might take up that Fallen Grace story. It sounds very interesting.

Nothing like a good thriller to hit those high-impact dopamine centers. I might just have to check out some of your works!

Greetings Edwin,

Ahhh, horror. While it isn't typically my forte, I do rather enjoy some stories that send fear to the mind. I'm more of a fan of stories that revolve around body horror as well as one that test the psychology of the mind. When I read or write something featuring those subjects, I tend to ask myself how far will a man push himself to achieve his goal.

I'm a fan of capers. While you can't share details yet, I will await said caper whether it be available in my local book store or here on itch.io!

I agree that itch is quite friendly to surreal artists than most online services out there. Heck, I'm a longtime user of a place called Tapas Media, and lets just say that despite being open to a lot of webcomics, the site essentially became more like current-day YouTube more than anything else. I'm here because I wanted to break away from that mold and do something to attract an audience more fitting to my strange style. I hope to bump into more strange and surreal fellows such as you too!

Happy writing!

Nice to meet a fellow writer! First, you're welcome. I've seen a lot of writers and comic creators publish their work here, but never have I seen any forum dedicated to use meeting up. I can't wait to meet other writers here as well. I'm curious as to what you make in particular. I might have to take a peek because I'm curious!

Let's hope for more fellow writers joining this thread!

GREETINGS itch.io!

I've seen a lot of books and book writers on this website, but I've never seen them take up the light of day. But not anymore. THIS is a place where authors like you and I can get to know each other.

For first-time posters:

  • State your name (online handle here)
  • Favorite genres to read/watch/play
  • Favorite genres to write
  • Type of Stories you write (poems, nonfiction, AUs, Fanfiction, longform stories, short stories, haikus, comics)
  • Talk about any upcoming projects you're working on
  • Book Recommendations, including books found on this site

I'll go first.

My name's Mr. Toontastic. I'm the creator and host of a collection of characters and stories called "Jean-Luc & Friends." You can find my works here: Goon Toon Books on itch.io

My favorite genres of stories to read and watch are mainly comedies. I love watching slapstick comedies especially. Even outside of cartoons and independent animations, there's some hilarious hits out there. When not indulging in copious amount of comedies of the physical and verbal variety, I love good action-adventure tales, sometimes with a little bit of horror to incite the danger up ahead.

When writing, I typically lean towards comedic characters in off-beat scenarios. Sometimes, I write akin to a sitcom. Other times, I write more in line with classic slapstick as seen in works such as Looney Tunes or early [adult swim] material. Once in a while, I write poetry as well. Currently, I'm working on a couple of new projects. Some of them are still in the pre-planning stages, but one I can discuss now is a story called CAT UNIVERSITY.

  • Cat University is a story about a young street cat who gets mixed up in a university full of pure-breeds. The young cat named Mogger is a Russian Blue cat with a skip in his step, but not a lot going on in the brain department. The university's goal is to create a new breed of cat society - the kind of society that makes cats the dominant species. Because when everyone owns a cat, who needs other animals? The question at the end of the day is if Mogger is ready to add to the cause, or if he's about to uncover secrets that could change the course of animal kind.

If there's any book that I could recommend, there's three:

  • JETX - Created by CrazylunaticXD is a story about the young titular speedster as he saves the world from the conniving Malicious Fingers and his attempts to convert the world into a mechanical dictatorship. The comic is fast, frantic, and full of that classic Saturday Morning heart. It's got the best essences of Dragon Ball Z, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Mega Man. JETX especially takes influence from the latter two entries, especially from the best of the Archie and IDW variants of Sonic and Mega Man. I love its style and would love to see it become bigger than it currently is.

  • The PlayStation 2 Encyclopedia - Created by DaddaRuleKonge is an encyclopedia about the PlayStation 2 and its multitude of games. The PS2 was my first console ever (though I used to game a lot on my Windows 98). While I'm more invested in my current hardware (at least as current as the PS4, STEAM, and Nintendo Switch), I find that I've missed out on a lot of games. As our current gaming landscape grows and expands, I like to go back to where I started just to learn about the games that I may have missed. It's amazing how so many games are left sitting around, unloved or poorly preserved, so to read an encyclopedia about the games I missed is a great time.

  • Fahrenheit 451 - Created by Ray Bradbury. I think we're more aware of its premise about book burning, but its also about independence and thinking for yourself. We may not be immune to propaganda, but we should have an open mind about our place in this world and the importance of culture and preservation of our great works. For me, that means a lot, especially when considering how we preserve media today, including video games.

  • Invasion of the Road Weenies and Other Warped and Creepy Tales - Created by David Lubar. Now, this is a childhood book. It's absurd, its got bits of horror, and its just an overall warped story with one message.... DON'T BE A WEENIE!!

Let's get to know each other!

I can't wait to read some of your work and invest in some of your recommended books! Until then...

BE TOONTASTIC~!

Look out, mac! JET's out to save the world!!

While this isn't necessarily a game, I do have a book! It's called Steamboat Sillies! It's a comedy about a guy trying to make a delivery on a very hectic day. Check it out: Steamboat Sillies

Greetings! I'm Mr. Toontastic.

I'm a cartoonist around these parts of the web. I like to draw, write, and create colorful stories with strange characters. I mostly dabbled my hands in more free-form webcomics, but I wanted to try something different and write novels. I have a couple on my page already, which you can find here: Goon Toon Books!

It's nice to meet you all!

Thanks! It took a while to get the cover art to look like that. 😄

Hello, hello!

I just published a new novel that acts as love letter (and parody) of the innovative cartoon, STEAMBOAT WILLIE. While things turn out akin to the cartoon we know and love, this story does take an alternative turn.

It's all about the troubles of a young employee dealing with his skinflint boss. I'm sure we've all been there.

It's my new book, Steamboat Sillies, available on my page here: https://mr-toontastic.itch.io/steamboat-sillies

What Happens when a young girl and her grandmother are challenged by their rivals over the best tennis court in the park? Madness ensues, including a long-winded tennis match! Feel the speed and the heat as two old biddies battle in mind and spirit to prove who's the best in a humble game of tennis. All's fair in Love and War, but its only a matter of time until things get a bit underhanded!

Join the lovely Mellisa Muñella in this little tale I like to call, Latinas on the Backswing.

Greetings!

The name's Toontastic... Mr. Toontastic.

I'm a web-artist that loves to create artwork and stories in a very cartoonish manner. It's lovely to meet all of you. Normally, I create webcomics and webnovels on sites like Tapas Media. However, today is the start of a brand new venture... self-publishing novels for sale!

Today's sale is a little book I've been working on for poetry. This book, Poetic Pieces of a Particular Penman, is one of two volumes I've written based on poems I wrote since my final years of high school to around... 2020*. I love writing poems as much as I love sharing them. The first volume is up for sale right now, so it'd be well appreciated for you to check it out.
