Ohhhhh... this is SICK. I love this. This is a work of ergodic fiction in the tradition of S, A Collection of Improving Exercises, House of Leaves etc. Making this must not have been easy. My own (more web-based) attempt took me more than a year. :D

Heya! Thank you for all the work you've done archiving this. Just to add to the timeline, while I don't know if Quill was the first solo epistolary game, De Profundis was an earlier (multi-player) epistolary game that came out in 2001!

Hey, really sorry. The format of the game is moves in the Powered By The Apocalypse (PbtA) System, which presume you are rolling 2d6 + a bonus of -1 to 3 (in this case 1 to 3). My brain is so used to pbta moves being formatted like that I literally forgot about the 2d6 part, will create an edited version.
I've been trying to make a game like this for forever... my implementation (which has mostly lain dormant) is at https://utilityhotbar.github.io/catacombs/
But yours is much more fully featured. Congrats!
I love such conceits and metafictional designs. It's so close to being perfectly of its time but that one anachronism stands out... (I'm sure you put it in intentionally) I also wish there were more of an implied narrative, but c'est la vie.
On the other hand, I can't say my perspective drawing skills will be improved much.
