Over the past 7 days, I have been spending time relaxing and exploring to try and make the most of my holiday while I'm off school. Since I didn't get many days to work on the project, minimal changes have been made. I promise that the next 7 days will have alot more major changes, including some NEW levels, new turrets and More!

The changes I have made include:
- I have worked a bit on the menu to make it more interactive and inviting to the users. To put it in further detail, I have added depth to the objects seen in the background, and have worked the level selection screen, so that the planet shown on screen is according to which planet you are currently on. In the next 7 days, I will be creating explosions effects between the planets, to further indicate that there is a battle going on.

- I've done alot of experimenting, such as: Messing around with Settings, Improving Visuals (GFX), changing around UI in the game to make gameplay both visually and interactively better.

- All music used in the game has now been credited, thanks to iOmen.

-  The stats for the Minigun, Shotgun and Headcrab turrets have now been changed in order to make gameplay more balanced.

And that's about it! Sorry if the development in the past 7 days has been disappointing. As I said, the past 7 days have been dominated with marketing and planning, as well as focusing on enjoying myself and not becoming too stressed with working on the game.

Thank you for following the development of Mankind On Mars!

Thanks For Your Feedback! The music was meant to be placeholder music while the game wasn't public, but now, since the project is public, I will definitely credit the artists! In future, hopefully I could hire a musician to create music specifically for the game!

Thank You For Your Suggestion! This certainly seems like a cool idea!

See this picture? Just alone, this picture may just look like what you'd see in your standard, low effort indie game. The poster could've added a filter and even just added UI just for show. But Unbelievably, this picture, as of the 6th August, has taken me 2 MONTHS to develop!

This is the official "Mankind On Mars Blog / Devlog"
I will be updating this with new content, info and more every 7 days.
By the way, If you like what you saw in that picture, you can check out the game here.

...

Oh dear! I haven't introduced myself yet! Hey! My name is Nathan but Online I am known as nathukadev. I'm a student currently living in England, and I program in C# but am looking to expand my knowledge into other well known languages, such as C++, Python, HTML and more.

I began my passion for game development after learning about the Unity Game Engine. I am not confident on what caused me to begin, but I'm glad that I got into it, because it has opened up a whole world of opportunities for me and my future.

Now that I've introduced myself, and we've made a semi-online friendship, let me explain to you what this darn game is about!

Mankind On Mars is a short but savage battle between Sentient Robots and Humans.

As humans compete with each other to outwit the other in new technological advances, the consequences of their past actions have caused Planet Earth to unite in an effort to defeat the Revenge-Seeking Robots who've had enough of humanity's horrendous rule.

Use the technology at your disposal Wisely. The fate of humanity is in your hands...

Well, that may've left you confused, so to break it down, Mankind On Mars is an Interactive 3D Tower Defence Game. If you don't know what a Tower Defence game is, it's basically (as taken from Wikipedia):

"Tower defense (TD) is a subgenre of strategy games where the goal is to defend a player's territories or possessions by obstructing the enemy attackers or by stopping enemies from reaching the exits, usually achieved by placing defensive structures on or along their path of attack."
Some examples of Tower Defence Games Are: Bloons TD, GemCraft, Plants VS. Zombies

Almost all Tower Defence Games Are 2D but this game is breaking the ice and launching you into an Immersive 3D Battle - In Space!

And when I say "In Space" I mean your literally ON THE PLANETS! Earth, Mars and many more to come as the game progresses in development!

If you stuck around and you're still reading this, then you must surely have enjoyed that description! So why not stick around for more updates on the devlog, and maybe even play the game here and give some feedback? We appreciate every piece of feedback we get, and it makes the game more suitable and enjoyable for YOU! :D

Thank You!

'Stage 1' Changing Throughout Development
If you have the time, please consider reading this. For the last 2 months, I have been creating a Tower Defence Game. For those of you who don't know what a Tower Defence game is, it's (as taken from wikipedia):

"Tower defense (TD) is a subgenre of strategy games where the goal is to defend a player's territories or possessions by obstructing the enemy attackers or by stopping enemies from reaching the exits, usually achieved by placing defensive structures on or along their path of attack." Some examples of Tower Defence Games Are: Bloons TD, GemCraft, Plants VS. Zombies

At the start of development, I wasn't alone on my journey. I was partnered with a highly-skilled Modeller And Artist, but later he unfortunately left the project to focus on his mental health. He came up with the concept of a Blazing Battle Between Humans And Robots In Space, which is what the game is about. Development was slow, considering that both of us had to cut our focus between school and development, but as time ticked by, the product grew larger with more features, better graphics and user interface. It has led me up to now, a month and a half away from release.

I want this game to be the best it can be, but I need your help to make that come true. I was thinking about a crowdfunding campaign, but the project didn't seem worthy of the financial support of others, especially during this time of global crisis. At the moment, the Best way to support the project is through Community and Interaction. If you have the time, please consider reading more on the game, and if you like what you see, consider playing it and providing feedback, and although I sound like a beggar, it would seriously put a smile on my face.

But above all, please care for yourself and eachother during this time, as well as throughout the rest of your lives. I am so glad to be living comfortably, with a whole life ahead of me, and PLEASE do not waste this opportunity. Game development has opened up a whole world of new ideas to me, and it's time to take action into your life, and choose the career path for you.

< KNOWN BUGS (Don't report these!) >

Volume resets to default after unloading and re-loading menu scene. Slider doesn't work after that.
- UI may not fit into place due to bad resolution scaling, I'm sorry about this, and I hope to fix this in future.
