Hi, sorry to hear you've been having trouble. It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. I've taken a look through the level transition code again and I'm afraid I haven't been able to replicate your issue, though the problem in your case is most likely the game failing to find the next level or an issue with game data present on the second level. Unfortunately the only advice I can offer at this point is to attempt to re-download the game data, or run the executable as an administrator. I'm sorry that I can't be of more help, but it's been a long time since I've touched this project and my knowledge of troubleshooting beyond Unity is limited.

Thank you! I'm currently using Unity. This is how I did most of the visuals:

  • PSXEffects (free alternatives are available) for the camera which let me set render resolution to 320x240 and add dithering. 
  • I used the PSX shader that came with PSXEffects on some geometry, mostly small props on the inside and the cliffs on the outside. 
  • Textures are 128x128 with no filtering.
  • Models are all very low poly with 256x256 textures.

There was no indication about what the player's relation to her was, which I noticed led to a bit of confusion among some people. Honestly I didn't really put any deep thought into it so I went with best friends as to not try to force too much of a specific sort of role onto the player while still having her be someone that the player would bother looking for.

Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot to me. I don’t have any plans to expand Hamilton but I do have plans for something bigger that I’m still trying to figure out. All I’ll say is that it will be very similar in style to Hamilton.

The lighting in general is something I'll be looking into a bit to try to find a middle ground where things are still sufficiently dark while making it less annoying to navigate.

Content wise the game is done as of 1.1 which just added new ending text, otherwise the only updates in future will be fixes and adjustments which I'll try to address as they come.

Thanks for the feedback! The game closing at the end was one of the decisions I wasn't super comfortable with but I stuck with it, which was probably the wrong decision. I might upload a sneaky update at some point which replaces it with something better when I can figure it out.

It's been three weeks since she disappeared. 

She went to Hamilton Forest with her boyfriend, and nobody has heard from them since. 

The police say they performed a search of the area and found nothing. They said that further exploration was too dangerous and that the risk to the search party was too great.

"I can't imagine how you must feel," the Officer had told me. His blank gaze failed to meet my eyes. "But you can't go looking for them."

They wouldn't tell me why.

Hamilton is a short horror game in which you delve into a mysterious, defiled place purposefully forgotten by both man and nature to find someone important to you.

It's my first foray into horror and the first game I've ever released, so any and all feedback is appreciated.
