interesting idea and pretty well polished, but once you figure it out it's pretty much impossible to lose. you have perfect knowledge and unlimited resources, there's no actual player input involved. if you see sword, block. if you see shield, attack before they get it up, or take time to heal if the shield is already up. i could see a version of this with multiple attackers, so you have to decide which to attack and which to defend against, being really fun; or maybe you could only have a certain number of attacks, or shields, etc. something to force decision making

this is a really cool ruleset, it's comprehensive and has enough stuff not to feel floaty, but doesn't weigh you down with a bajillion rules on exactly how to run, shoot and poop. If I wanted to nitpick, the translation of the standard 6 dnd abilities kinda irks me whenever I see it, but frankly that's a minor gripe at best
I really like the idea that your character creation is mostly controlled by the table, it forces players to play outside their own comfort zone. But since most of us come from a background of games like dnd, where any excuse to throw plastic around is taken, I feel like that 12 rolls will dry up really quick. but hey, it's the end of the world, so that fits into the theme
