There's tons of video options... except the one to play in windowed mode. That's a perfect example for how this game works. I don't understand how so much was put into this only for basic stuff to be ignored.

Ran around for almost an hour only to die right before I made it back to the dream. I dropped thousands of blood echoes and haven't even leveled up yet. I go back to get my echoes and they're nowhere to be found. And it looks like I'm not the only one with that problem. At this point, I just assume that they didn't put that mechanic in and you just lose everything when you die.

Half the time, "authentic" means "mind boggling frustration." The cancel button doesn't back out of menus. You have to select the option to exit a menu. But only certain menus. Like it's a Dos game from the 80s. And the menus themselves are terrible even by PSX standards.

For some reason, you have to equip keys. To do that you have to get to your inventory and to the menu to equip items, then select your key ring, then you can use one of your 3 item slots to equip a key. Which puts it in your useable item slots, even though you can't use a key as an item. Which means you also have to select your blood vials in order to use them. The triangle/Y button is for using items, also including blood vials, but it doesn't looks like the square/X button has a use....

Trick weapons can only be transformed when in the menu. So you have to pause, cycle to your weapons, then press L1 to transform. Then you can exit the menu and get back to combat.

Why would anyone want to put up with such incompetency and frustration, even if it's free? I get the point of a demake, but I don't get the point in making things worse in order to be more authentic.
