No worries. Ask away. I love talking about RPGs. And Slay & Plunder happens to be one where I have a unique insight. ;)

Besides the art and layout, the paid version includes the monster list and treasure tables. It's otherwise the same.

The concept is that the Host (the game master in S&P) gets the paid version and the rest of the players get the unpaid version. But, if you are using monsters and treasure from other sources, the unpaid version is all you need.

I never got that feedback about magic-users. Though there's been some changes to the ability score roll process, there's never been pressure to play a magic-user with less than a +1 bonus from INT. The feedback I kept getting on that class was repeated requests for confirmation that magic-users could use any weapon. It was thought to be typo.

The main complaint about spellcasting was from a player of a cleric with a very low STR. He was pretty much stuck with just a sling or staff after his one or two spells.

Now though, there's always an option for high STR with a cleric which makes maces and hammers much more viable. But, depending on the CHA/WIS roll, they may be limited to a low initial spellcasting limit (low CHA) or low max spellcasting limit (low WIS).

You got it. That magic-user can cast 4 levels worth of spells per day, from their experience level of 2 plus their INT modifier of 2. And that can be spent on four level 1 spells, two level 2 spells, one level 4 spell, etc.

I'm very glad you enjoyed it. I like reading designer notes myself.

I'm very sorry about that. I used MergePDF to merge the cover and the body into one file. My best guess is that's where the issue is introduced. I created a share folder on Dropbox with the current docx and a PDF generated directly from Word. Besides the format, the only differences besides the missing cover are the index of illustrations is moved to the beginning and contrast was improved one or two images.

If neither of these work, I can try some other formats, or possibly breaking up the file if you believe it's a size issue.
