Hillarious!

Nice visuals - particularly like the terrain and backdrop.

Not sure walking should be the default - I died the first couple of times as I was failing to hold shift.
But once I got used to it I was able to get to the end.

Very fun!

Similar to our interpretation of the theme. The chaos ramps up so quickly! 😆

I got to the point where I picked up the Jam, but then the Jam doesn't seem to do any damage?

Nice idea to fit the theme though!

This could be really nice with a bit more content. Make it a proper multi-step escape room where doing incorrect actions set you back.

Very nice idea, and a different twist on the theme I've not seen.

Nice. One of the few games in this Jam i've actually managed to complete!

I think I'd have struggled to jump high enough if playing on a smaller screen, as I couldn't get enough vertical speed. And the camera was too zoomed in on the last level such that I couldn't see where I was aiming.

But for a first game this was a really good implementation of the theme!

Pretty hard! You've got a lot done in the time though.

I think the camera could be a bit further out as I had to keep stopped to check what was coming next before jumping, and jumped too high to be able to see the enemy I was trying to land on.

I like the retro feel.

Not sure I really understood the goal though. After I gave the person on the street the Jam, what was I able to do with the rest?

Still, an impressive style to have pulled off in a short time span!

Hill climb racing on a baguette. Nice!

I think more speed and a further zoomed out camera and this would be a lot of fun.

I like the animation.

A few bugs need smoothing out (your health can go below zero, and buying health in the store doesn't actually increase your health), but not bad!

Nice! Like the style.

I found I got stuck up against a couple of the platforms and had to back up before jumping, so might want to check the player's collider is tall enough.

Also found myself pushing my character up to the right hand side of the screen the whole way to avoid the shadow. Would be nicer to push the shadow further left to leave more space on the screen for the player to move about on.

But overall well done!

A nice idea!
When I died I have to refresh the browser page and reload the game to have another go though.

Thanks very much.

I totally agree about the difficulty. Given more time I'd liked to have come up with a more intelligent way of determining where to spawn the Jam, but the current purely random approach leads to a nice mix of chaos when you get bad spawns, and relief when you get good ones!

We used Affinity Designer for the foreground tileset, including the Jam and plate sprites.

The background was initially generated using bings generative AI and then modified to fit our style in photoshop.

The character was inspired by a generative AI image too, but broken up into the component parts in Krita and animated in Godot. In hind-sight I'd like to have done the character in Affinity Designer too, as setting up the layers in Krita was pretty awkward.

All the UI is just using features in Godot and a font downloaded from frontspace.com.

Hope this helps!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you very much! :)

Thanks!

Thanks!

I found the controls really awkward.
Space to jump and to grapple would make more sense to me, and then an alternative key for placing the flag.

But love the art :)

All feedback welcomed as it's our first time :) : https://itch.io/jam/yogscast-game-jam/rate/535914

Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it.

Totally agree that it's in need of some balancing, thanks for the feedback!
