Cool visuals and fun gameplay!
It was fun!
Well done!
I love your graphics. :D
I'm not sure about the choice of making the jam placement random. It doesn't really let you plan out a path with trial and error, which is the point I suppose. You need to adapt to your own path but sometime at the last stage the RNG just boned me. And managed to finish it because it spawned 3 times at almost the same place so I almost got them all immediatly xD
Other than that really fun! one of the best of the jam for sure.
Extremely well done! How many people were on this?
Two of us - myself and @ollij93!
Fun idea, it's like Super Meat Boy's level replay shows up during the play and gets in a way :D
Random spawners make the levels more replayable, but at the same time of unpredictable difficulty — the same level could be very easy or very hard based on the random.
I think if the colliders were a bit more forgiving (without hands & legs) and the movement more fluid (SMB-like), that'd feel even better. Nice job anyway!
Thanks very much.
I totally agree about the difficulty. Given more time I'd liked to have come up with a more intelligent way of determining where to spawn the Jam, but the current purely random approach leads to a nice mix of chaos when you get bad spawns, and relief when you get good ones!
how did you make the graphic so good can you tell me please?
We used Affinity Designer for the foreground tileset, including the Jam and plate sprites.
The background was initially generated using bings generative AI and then modified to fit our style in photoshop.
The character was inspired by a generative AI image too, but broken up into the component parts in Krita and animated in Godot. In hind-sight I'd like to have done the character in Affinity Designer too, as setting up the layers in Krita was pretty awkward.
All the UI is just using features in Godot and a font downloaded from frontspace.com.
Hope this helps!
thank you
omg, this was so much fun to play!!!
