Very impressive!
I like the references to Metroid Fusion especially :D
One day I went on a walk alone in a large forest preserve.
I stepped off the path and encountered some small stone ruins and an abandoned camp site. An angry homeless dude stepped out the woods and began stalking me like one of the living dead.
It's an odd feeling to be stalked by danger in a place, where not too far away, people are partying and children are playing.
Thanks for asking and playing :D
P.S. To make matters worse, I had a bike with me in the middle of a huge grass area while this guy was approaching me. Felt like one of those nightmares where you're trying to run, but you move in slomo.

Today I've begun testing objects in the game space. So far it's looking good without changing any graphical settings.
Pixel art can sometimes appear to distort or "jitter" based on the chosen screen aspect ratio, but so far so good.
Here's a gif to show what I've done so far:
The character walk animation is not finalized yet. This guy is actually Tomie's teacher for those in the know.

I finally decided to launch my Dev Log for this project at itch.io.
Originally I would share updates via Twitter, but the ensuing chaos of swirling opinions and ideologies was really throwing me off my productivity. It's not that I do not wish to engage the problems of the world which Twitter present, but it seems as though the best good I can do is from here on itch.io.
Games may be entertainment medium, but the time people spend playing them is valuable. Allow me to relay that value to you through this game.
Perhaps a Tomie game will not solve our social and societal ills, but at least it will allow those whom play a small bit of joy and respite in trying times.
Now to the dev stuff:
Working on walk cycles today
I've chosen 8 frames for each direction. So far so good.
