Glad you enjoyed it. I guess I need to make the row of hearts at the bottom of the screen stand out more.

Love the theming, love the aesthetic. Feeling the horror vibes at the start. 10/10, would run as admin. Movement is great, mechanics are great. Pressing dash and jump at the same time gives a huge speed boost which is really fun. Don’t know how I was supposed to figure it out though, is it a bug?

But a few things made me not finish getting platinums:

  • The dash cooldown after hitting a button that bounces you.
  • Getting the cursor’s feet stuck in a corner.
  • Keyboard controls are optimized for playing with one hand, but awkward for two. I’m not good at controller.
  • Chaining dashing into riding or riding into dashing is awkward: they’re on the same button and dashing is a press action while riding is a press and hold action. If you want to avoid an extra button, I’d try putting riding on the jump button, or making riding not require timing the initial button press so you can dash and keep the button held do ride.

Yeah, I wanted to make the enemies insects but it wasn’t a priority, will do it on a future update :D

True, extra feedback on that interface seems necessary given that replacing isn’t usual for this kind of game. I’ll also try out rfxgen, thanks for the pointer. 🐛🔨😐

Yeah i agree, thanks for the feedback. A new segment every wave would be far too much though. Getting one every ~2 waves was snowballing so I reduced how often you get one near the end of the deadline, then got distracted with making particles, forgot to test it and it was more impactful than planned :/

My goal was for the game to be more chaotic and for the centipede to constantly change. Choosing where to place weapons didn't align with it.

My remarks:

  • 🦆
  • I'm really missing a restart hotkey
  • The placement of the flags implies that you need to get to a flag after collecting all the eggs, but you don't
  • Waiting for a 3 second countdown after every restart  is too much for a speedrun game. You can make it shorter, or have the timer begin automatically when the player starts moving, or find another solution. Players die more often than you and thus will notice this much more than you
  • Wall jumping back and forth from 2 opposite walls feels awkward
  • You can climb a wall infinitely by wall jumping (without another wall opposite to it) and I don't know if it's intentional
  • Being able to wall jump when you have a jetpack gets in the way more often than it helps and it's kinda pointless
  • Voicelines are great

    Bugs I've found:

    • You can get out of bounds both to the left and right of every level
    • Collecting the last egg right after the timer runs out still shows the "go to next level" menu although it doesn't do anything
    • I managed to kill an enemy and die to it at the same time
    • Pausing the game messes up the timer
    • Pausing during the countdown behaves weird
