A scary game about a monster exploring an old house and helping the ghost residents move on by invading their memories.

Heavily inspired by Psychonauts and classic horror games.

I sadly was not able to finish up a demo due to work and time constraints.  At least, not in time for the jam.  I really like this idea and plan to evolve it and continue to work on it.  I would have felt bad if I didn't at least share something.  This game/project only exists because of this jam.

I have a basic video on the core of it.  Basically, I spent too much of my time making systems and not providing enough meat.  So there's not a lot playable now, but it will be easier to make.  The video itself is only going to show a bunch of walking and ideas.

I wanted to get the Father's level done in time for the jam but it looks like I might miss the deadline.

The goal I want is for each level to play differently.  The word has a lot of stigma on it now, but each level will essentially have it's "gimmick" to make it stand out.  Examples like  vehicles, combat, etc..

I want to make it closer to a platforming horror game.  Eventually in full 3D.  The sprites you see are like placeholders currently.  I also want to eventually make the house bigger.  Maybe give it a more stylized look?  I like the retro PSX era look but always open to other options.

Honestly, I hope the next update I make for this has a lot more content to it.  It's the first time I've went into a game with a full layout of a story and I feel like even if I didn't finish something in the 14 days available for the jam, that I did come out with a relatively fleshed out idea.  That's farther than I normally get.

Thanks!

The plan was to actually build a case file menu to act as the pause menu.  Giving you things like objective, clues, and controls.

Thanks!

I wanted to implement something like a case file menu that shows everything instead of it all sitting on screen, but real life gets in the way a lot and I couldn't make it in time.  The fast fading is the act of last minute additions not going so well.

Hey there!  I just wanted to ask about animations?  Specifically on the 3d models.  I noticed , for example, you offer a zombie model but they only have 3 animations (unless you buy the bundle).  I don't mind purchasing the bundle to use them (if they fit the theme once it's announced) but I already have plenty of zombie animations ready to be used.

Is there a restriction on this as well?

Loaded it up aaannddd....I forgot to enable the UI after getting the new screenshot I needed.  Building and uploading a new version with fixed menu.

The UI buttons to start aren't there? Or the game itself wouldn't let you move?

I like the idea!  It's simple yet fun to figure out.

I feel like I did hit a small bug though.  On the second level I destroyed the brick blocking the path but I was right next to the goal when I did it. Which caused me to not be able to move onto the goal and I trapped myself.

I also might of just did it wrong.  Regardless, fun game!

Thanks!

One of the things that glitched out before submission was their particle effects. Not so much a glitch as I forgot to set them all to play on awake (my brain is the glitch). Originally they were supposed to sparkle a bit to give you a sense of what to look for. I'm hoping to fix it tonight.

This is my first gamejam so I greatly underestimated that amount of time it would take to implement some of my ideas while balancing irl responsibilities.

That said, I had a lot of fun and I'm honestly excited to see how everyone thought to use One Time Use!
