No, it's not an actual program just a javascript script run in the lvllvl C64 emulator's javascript engine, modifying memory addresses directly. You can check the script in the emulator.

I'm giving up with the bells, I suppose there are missing bells (ropes without bells) I've searched the levels, ring all of them but found no additional bells to complete the missing ones

Just tried the Spelunky classic ( an online version of it https://yancharkin.github.io/SpelunkyClassicHDhtml5/ ) and now I see why is it that way.

I really like the one joy button control you designed! I've always found the classic's controlling scheme confusing, maybe because I rarely using controller. I only missing that we cannot throw stuff up.

Yes you supposed to figure out almost everything by yourself. Anyway the Spelunky wikia pages can be used for the C64 version aswell. Grey blocks should be pushed if I remember correctly, however I can't move them in this version. For extra life save the damsel (or use Kali's altair).

I can't figure it out. It def would be more intuitive that moving the JOY left or right on ladder (or rope!) the hero would try to left the ladder in that direction.
However a really nice port, is the vases can be broken somehow?
Once I jumped on the rope on the start screen and left the screen up hoping in some easter egg :D

I just can't leave the ladder in mid. So I want to access an intermediate corridor, but the ladder always take me to the top or the bottom, I cannot cease grabbing the ladder or the ledges.

Ah ok, I finished the game since then. So I saw in one of the readme that the server A, B and X need to be rubbed. I thought that that is a hint so I need to smash all the three Pico8 butons at once (Button A, B and X, which are X,C,V in my keyboard), So I did it several times while the screen goes purple with an error message: "Out of memory" which I thought that all part of the game. I didn't realized that one button saves a checkpoint and that's while I heard the *beep* sound and everytime it's occupy a little more from the RAM getting it full.

I'm not sure what to do when I get this screen... It's part of the gameplay I suppose but how to unstuck from there?

Almost completed, but failed at Galaxy 5

I completed it normally and killing Talisman AI at the first sight. Got the same ending. Anyway it was a worthy experience. The alien really like the locker computer at the armoury, never really get away from that, otherwise it destroying weak walls and boxes which is terrifying.

Hi I tried to get to the end of the map. I made a video about how far I reached. The map seems infinite to me, So I guess it's generated on the fly when you discover more the game proc gen more?

Polished game, I rated 5/5!

Pretty neat, and totally enough for first project.

So satisfying shooting enemies.

Woooot I can shoot behind the buildings and hit the nasty UFOs blindly! It's a great success for a game made only 15 hours, not so interesting gameplaywise.

(WINDOWS 7 Pro x64) If you use the select tool, then you want to use the rectangle (or ellipse) tool it always draw dashed line and I can't figure out how to restore (program restart helps) you can even change the width of the dashed line which is very nice! but no option to get back to normal rectangle.

Also shortcuts seems very aggressive, I cannot even write comment here, because it swallows my U,E,I letters and the spaces

I wonder how you guys optimized your animations to keep the size below 3 MB.
