Shaders means that you can modify the colors ingame, like for example when you use eagle vision in assassin’s creed. You can also use shaders for visual effects like explosions, water ripple, whatever. For example, iof you have blue water, but a shader adds dynamic white foam and dark blue depth, that still counts as one color.
Light can be anything, yeah, it doesn’t matter if it brightens or darkens a color, it still counts as one.
This is the only place i will break character
This is more of a horror experience than a game. It knows it’s a computer program and it will mess with your computer. Don’t worry. If you want the full story, you will need to do some investigation. Some of the immersion is broken because i have no time to create a splash screen for example, but it’s 5am as i’m writing this.
There are no jumpscares.
Polish means how “done” is your game. For example, if you fall through platforms or get bugged into a wall, that’s not very polished. If you have nice effects, the sounds are fitting, for example your gun has a recoil and you can feel the force when you shoot, that’s very polished.
Yeah, it should be overall, my autocorrect is just dumb.
Linux is a computer OS. You can export to windows too if you want, just make sure you also export to one of the listed platforms. Here’s a tutorial for exporting from game maker.
