That makes sense. I really enjoy your writing. My two cents is that I like what you've done with images here a lot, but I get the concerns with getting and making AI images. Regardless, I just played The Zhonghua Zero-Day, and it's really cool to see you making all these games and incorporating different gameplay mechanics. Thanks for the reply!

Enjoying your stuff as always! Do any of your CHYOA stories also have pictures to go along with the text?

That's a great idea. I'll probably see if he wouldn't mind sharing some tips as I like how Renpy is set up, but it seems like doing the more complicated stuff could be a lot easier with Unity.

Hi! Long time player, first time commenter. I was curious, are there plugins for Renpy you used in making the battle system and time system? I'm dipping a toe into making a visual novel with combat, but am between using Unity and Renpy and was curious if you coded the system yourself or there was a really good plugin you could recommend.

Really like the aesthetic. Good stuff, man!

Tried this demo out, and it's great so far! Really like the randomization of this. Also tried your other stuff and enjoyed your style of storytelling! Is there any chance Blow by Blow will see an update or remake?

Wow! This has been amazing. I was wondering, what did you use to make the character and environment models in? I haven't seen ones this good in ages, it feels.

Thanks for the breakdown of your process! Your game immediately struck me for much the same reason as the other commenter. I'm really impressed by all you've utilized for this and your models are aspirational haha

These characters look amazing. I was curious: What program did you use to make them and the settings from?

Interesting. Yeah, I can't draw and was disputing taking a stab at learning Daz3d (as if learning both together wouldn't be a feat of time and effort) I just wanna use my writing degree for a similar kinda thing, I think, but the only idea I have for a game would be maybe too intensive for a first stab at things.

Anywho, thanks! I will haha.

Whoa! I just looked into artbreeder and that's really cool. I'm definitely having fun browsing it now lol.

I totally agree with that for the "you" character of this kind of game. Definitely feels nice not to have any dissonance between the player and the main character.

And good to know about the other characters. I totally get the drawing struggle. I've been wanting to try to put a game together one day, and have been playing with the idea of Renpy, but making the commitment and leap of time and resources it would all take to learn is a bit daunting for me so I totally getcha on resources x_x;

And good to know! I'll check that version out. Looking forward to seeing more of your writing!

Hi! So, I really liked your writing style. I almost never find myself drawn to a purely text-based game. I don't know if you only wanted to keep it to text for a particular reason, but thought to share this website if not. It has completely free use facial pictures and I've noticed some other text heavy games use images from it to represent characters. Anyway, if you haven't heard of it, it might be worth scoping out for options for players to pick from for a character or just set images for each character: https://generated.photos

Also, apologies if it's presumptuous to suggest and link this, but just thought it could help to have a visual of your characters.

Really enjoyed your game, Varlance. I appreciate the rough vibe of it and the variance of personalities of the characters you show in a very short span. Hope you keep making stuff like this!

Much Appreciated! I will check those out! Excited to play the rest of your game =]

Thank you for the reply! I'll dive into these programs for sure! I saw some stuff about Daz 3D when I was first looking into it so knowing you made all this with that program is really promising to me. And I did notice that Daz didn't seem to have a built in ability to show certain parts haha so I will absolutely be looking up Marvelous Designer. Was there a good marketplace for the 3D assets you found? Everything seems kinda scattered to me.

Anyway, I appreciate the response and am looking forward to seeing your game evolve!

This was a great opening! I'm looking forward to playing more as it comes out.

I was wondering too: I'm in a similar boat with a writing background, an interest in making a NSFW game, but no experience with programming and making 3D models. What did you use to make the background items, like the rooms and all that? Were any of the elements like the beds or objects in the rooms all made by you in blender or something similar, or is there a good program you can pull assets from and arrange things? I know you mentioned costs for them and know I wouldn't be so great at making 3D models beyond some stuff I saw for character creation tools.
