These characters look amazing. I was curious: What program did you use to make them and the settings from?
Thank you. A lot of it was done in blender.(which is free) but you need a few addons for certain tasks and some of them are paid. The final renders are in blender. I did all the hairs except the beards with an amazing blender addon called Hair Tool. The beards and some of the other assets were from a previous project I was involved in. The models were made using a blender addon that generates humans but its only halfway there. I still needed to refine them in a sculpting software(zbrush) and texture them(substance painter) both software I got from that previous work. This is a process you usually find for 3d games not VNs. The downside is you make a lot of things from scratch. I started making the models last November. The benefit is that you have better influence over how the final output looks.
So that's why your characters look so nice. the usual Daz characters used on these ren'py VNs tend to be a little... repetitive, and sometimes they look really weird. But your models look so natural, just seeing David's expressions on the dialogue was a touch that makes the game feel more like a conversation.
Thanks. I was actually considering Daz at the beginning. The benefit of Daz is how quicker you could immediately start building scenes because the assets are already there(though you might have to buy a few of them). I ended up not going the Daz route because I'm already a bit familiar with the process I did for this VN and some of the software I already have, I might as well take advantage of those. But it does take a lot more time though.
Hi, I was just wondering if you were willing to let us know what this previous project was (was it a game? which game?), and if it was a game, was it a gay game (because I absolutely love the art in this, and would love to try out something with similar art). I understand it might not have been a game, or might not have been released, and you also might not be allowed to let people know, or want and are comfortable with others knowing, but I just thought I would ask anyways.
You got an amazing game on hand here, with hunky sexy characters (the beefier the bottom the better for me), and the writings also top notch. Keep up the good work, hope you end up with an amazing game.
Hello. Thanks for reaching out. The previous project was a small one that's not gay-related or adult, and not a game. It's kind of an animation part of a short film and I was involved with it but only briefly. I'm not really sure what happened with it too, I feel like it must have been shelved or something. You're not missing out not knowing what it is, I promise...;)
