Echo on this request.

The flatpak image of cider is out of date. I'm unsure why you would develop an AppImage. No one wants to install the requirements to run AppImages on their systems.  Obviously https://build.opensuse.org/is fantastic for building RPM's for RedHat/Fedora/OpenSUSE as well as DEB packages for Debian based systems.

Using OBS + Flatpak, you are appealing to the widest Linux community with the minimal required effort. The current RPM is limited to Fedora based systems and fails on OpenSUSE for example.

I don't think this has anything to do with Cider. iTunes store and the music streaming service have always been independent of each other.

I don't think you'll even see it if you go direct to the Apple music website, which is all that Cider really is doing.  Cider doesn't actually do anything but pull the website into its app, then the app itself just adds their own features.

Just wondering if you are on a Mac with apple silicon too?

I've just updated successfully on Linux (RPM file) but it was a bit of a long process having to come here to download latest file, which required me to re-login to Apple again (all my settings were also lost). I wonder if you need to re-login maybe?

Good luck,.

Hi ya,

I'll explain the steps I went through so you can understand that it isn't really an "update" process but is a complete reinstall and starting from fresh.

  1. I loaded the app and was informed there is an update, but my client version was out of date.......okay. I do not understand there are 2 things installed?
  2. I came to the website, downloaded the latest RPM file and installed it. I had to re-login to Apple again. During the install I had to change the assumed "American" English to British and a few other settings. fine I'll get over it.
  3. I loaded the app again and was again told there is an update.... Why didn't I get the latest update in my original download? The "update" is taking me from 2.3.2 to 2.3.2.0..... okay!
  4. The app closed down when I asked it to do the update.
  5. I manually restart the app, go into settings and have to yet again re-apply the language from "American" to British English. I had to re-apply the settings for turning off notifications as well as all my other choices in the settings such as minimise to tray icon.

Hopefully it's something you'll get to smooth out in a future release. Love the app otherwise and thank you for your work on it.
