Aww thank you Don, I’m really happy you enjoyed it! This game was a little experiment with some effects that I hadn’t used before like the speech bubbles and the animations. I really wanted to get the vibe that you were around a campfire and listening to a scary story. I’m happy the choice gave you such a surprise haha! Thank you for playing!

Sorry for the late reply! Thank you for the comment and thank you for playing.
I’m glad you liked the designs! I really wanted to give it that storybook feel.
Due to the word restrictions for the jam I had to make the bad end quite short which meant I couldn’t fully explain what was going on haha. I have really enjoyed hearing different people’s theories, some ideas which I haven’t even thought of. I haven’t planned more for the story at the moment but who knows in the future.
Thank you so much for playing so many of my solo projects and also our Hyakuten games! It really means a lot ❤️😊
Thanks for the comment Malia and thank you for playing so many of our games! It really means a lot! I’m so glad you enjoyed the game 😁. I still feel like quite a newbie when it comes to making solo games so I try and do something a bit different each game so I can learn more about writing and the game engine. I’m hoping to create some longer games in the future as well 😁.
I’d like to think that Paul wished for something selfless at the end but who knows….
Thanks again ❤️😁
Thanks for the comment and for playing my game! I'm glad you liked the puzzle at the beginning haha. I really wanted to set the tone and make the story references very clear at the start of the game.
The storybook feel was what I was aiming for with the art style so it's great that it came across as intended. The endings being quite open was because of the word count but I also wanted it to be a bit mysterious.
Thanks again!
Thanks chatter for the lovely words!!!
I enjoyed doing the art and visual design for this game, I wanted to give it an old fairytale book sort of feel. Plus, the messy style of lineart meant I could draw it a lot faster, haha!
I really like your interpretation of the bad end. The idea that the red “shroud” makes the sacrifices easier to see was spot on! I wasn’t sure if players would enjoy the more open endings so I’m glad you liked them :).
Thanks again!
Thank you for the lovely comment and rating Carrot! I found it quite challenging setting up the story and the mood of the game with the restrictions of the jam so I’m really happy that it came across as I hoped. I fought with that 1000 word count a lot haha! I’m really glad you liked the vibes! ❤️ I really enjoyed playing with the fairytale theme so I’m tempted to do some similar games in the future. Thanks again!
Thank you for this wonderful message ❤️. I was having a really rough day today and your kind words have brought a tear to my eye. I haven't considered myself a writer so being called that is honestly so nice to hear. I'm really glad you enjoyed the game! I'm currently working on a big project for Hyakuten Games at the moment that will be released this year which is very exciting but I'm hoping to do a few solo games as well so stay tuned! Thank you so much again, you really made my day. 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much for playing! Loved watching your play through 🥰.
So happy you enjoyed the endings! When I was making the game I wasn’t sure what to do for the good end and then I was like…why don’t I have two haha.
I’m looking forward to doing more solo projects in the future 😁. I think we will see Frederick’s wizard friend Henry in the future but he might not be what you expect haha.
Omg thank you so much for the comment and review! I appreciate all the Frederick love! He brings the brightness to the darkest of locations haha.
I'm glad you liked the artsyle and the black and white palette. I want to try and experiment with limited colours in future games as well.
I had a lot of fun picking the music so I'm happy you thought they fitted the mood well.
Thanks again! I'm looking forward to doing more solo projects in the future.
Thank you so much for the kind words Chatter 💖. Honestly it has made my day!
I’m really glad that you enjoyed the story! The writing was the most difficult part for me so I’m so happy that you liked it. It took me quite a long time to write especially in regard to the twist with the mc as I wanted to make sure it was hinted throughout but also wasn’t too obvious.
The black and white aesthetic was one of the first ideas I had for the game. As you said, I wanted to create a mood that would match the story. I also thought it might be a fun nod to the fact that the mc might not actually be able to see colour considering what they are.
I’m so glad you liked Frederick as well! He’s a real softie so I’m thrilled that came across in the writing and art.
I really enjoyed making this solo game so I’m definitely going to make a few more in the future 💖. Thanks again for the lovely comment!
Awwww thank you so much for the lovely comment ❤️. I'm so happy you enjoyed the game.
Frederick is a sweetheart haha. As I was writing him he definitely became a lot softer. Also when I was drawing him I tried to make sure he had very adorkable expressions 😂.
I was really nervous about the writing so I'm really glad that you thought it had a lot of feeling in it! It was tricky balancing what information I wanted to get across to the player and also keep the story moving forward at the same time.
Thank you for the review as well 🥰. I did really enjoy making this game so I'm definitely interested in making a few more solo games.
