I think personally any change that allows for more creative and engaging expression for you would also reflect the quality of the game. If the restrictions Renpy place on you as a developer causes more frustration than anything, then I say go for it!

Is it possible it's because you have the Monogamous setting on? I noticed there isn't anything you can press on in the nightclub whenever you set your relationship as Monogamous as compared to when you set it to Polygamous.
