I think there's an error in the code I wrote. It should be

(unless: (history:) contains "Attack the wolf")[ (set: $HP to 11)]

So, "Attack the wolf" not "Attack wolf"

Awesome! Let me know what you make.

Thanks! The similar games that I know of are mentioned in this post.

You're welcome! I'll be working on some updates and new stuff this summer.

Thanks! Here's a document where I explain how to create adventures like this one: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Q-_vDpEZHyFACZqAO4DRX_Kgerqf8FjF66WGqBXG51A/...

I'm not currently working on this or any other adventure, but I will probably work on some revisions to A Miner Problem this summer when I have some time off my real job.

I'll message you.

Thanks. I think I'll probably modify the "advance to level 3" advice when I update this one.

Thanks for the feedback. I understand why you might not like this adventure as much. This one is adapted from a print solo adventure, so there's not quite as much interaction as I usually program into my games.

Thanks! I'll see what I can do to fix the issue.

No, I never got around to making a PDF version, since it would remove some of the interactive aspects of the game. To play with a friend, you could narrate it out loud from a laptop, tablet, or phone. If you try to play on mobile, it may say "This game is not formatted for your device", but you can still play through with only some odd rendering of the maps.

Unfortunately, not any time soon. I'm working on some other projects and haven't been able to do any new writing. In the meantime, check out my friends at https://rpgwanderer.com/ who are making some similar games.

Okay, trying a different method. It should now be available to download on the main page, just scroll down from "How to Play". Once downloaded, the game is index.html

Thanks! Let me know if you make a game. A few examples of other peoples; works that have come from this tutorial: https://dragonzaid.itch.io/the-restless-ghost and https://jw-allen.itch.io/a-long-rest

Hello! I made The Saint's Tomb and I'm just now discovering this. I love how you did the maps; it's a very intuitive design. The ability to change pronouns is also a nice touch. Lastly, the puzzle was nicely designed. I love the scaffolding: start easy and adds more complexity until the last question is actually difficult.

Thanks. I had introduced a bug while implementing a suggestion from another tester. I think it should be fixed now.

Great! Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks. I've corrected it for the update, which should be published this coming week.

Not currently. I'm working on an update that will include a save function, but it won't be done for a few weeks.

Thanks! If you enjoy it, please hit the ranking button in the upper right on the homepage.

I just finished my first playthrough. I love it! The achievements at the end were a nice touch. I played as a Halfling Ranger and got the Instakill and Bear Friendship achievements. Great job!

Wow! That's great. I can't wait to try yours out. Thanks.

I'm excited to announce the release of my newest game, 5e Arena here on itch.io. This game is a bit different from what most people post here: it's a digital gamebook that allows you to use your own 5th edition character sheet, roll your dice, and run your character, but play in the browser against enemies that are controlled by the game. Unlike my other digital gamebooks, this one is less narrative and more combat-focused, but there's still a host of intriguing characters . You can play for free here: https://sayeth.itch.io/5e-arena

I love the concept of the game, but personally I need a bit more guidance to jumpstart my imagination. Something like "You flash back to your moment of greatest victory and see (d6:  Yourself /Your enemy /A loved one /A stranger /Your mentor /A large number of people) amid the landscape of (d6:  The castle battlements / A dark dungeon / A cavern /An arena / A bridge/The top of a mountain) made of (d6: ice/ stone / bones/ cooled lava/ crystal/ living plants)."  Just 3 or 4 rolls to get things started so that I could mentally get out of the rut of the same old tropes.

Hey, you got close! I'll send you a link to play 5e Arena when I update it later in the week

Thanks! I'll try to get those fixed when I have some downtime.

Thanks! I'm working on the new one. I'll try to make it so that donors get early access.

Oh no! First level is very susceptible to bad luck. If at first you don't succeed . . .

Thanks! There's a sequel linked above and I'm working on another game now that uses grid combat

Thanks for the offer, but I should let you know that the Spanish translation of The Saint's Tomb isn't hugely popular.  Compared to the English version, which has  almost 70,000 views and 34,000 plays, La Cripta Sagrada has about 1,000 views and almost 400 plays. I love that I'm able to offer it to Spanish-speaking players, but I know that translation is a difficult job and I don't want you to take on a big project with little prospect of reward.  If you're still interested, let me know and we can talk.

Whoa! What was your character?

I published a new Dungeons & Dragons 5e solo game,A Miner Problem, here on itch.io.  For the maps in this game, I used Dungeon Scrawl. The credits for Dungeon Scrawl and the other images are on the Image Credits page within the game. Thanks for this amazing piece of software; it made my life much easier.

Great! Glad you enjoyed it. I'll have another one coming out in the next couple of weeks.

I've heard of Farmer as a homebrew background but not as a class. That sounds really interesting. Glad you liked it!

Hello! Not sure if this board is dead, but I'll introduce myself all the same. I am a player and DM for D&D. I got started actually playing about 2 years ago. Over the past few months, I wrote a single-player gamebook-style  5e game in Twine, using the OGL. Twine is a utility for writing choose your own adventure interactive fiction games. I wanted somewhere to easily publish my game, and that's when I discovered itch.io. I'm surprised to find people selling tabletop content here, but even more surprised that no one else has published a solo gamebook that uses an interactive fiction approach.

The Saint's Tomb is a free 1st level solo adventure for 5e. It's playable in-browser, hosted right here on itch.io. You'll need a character sheet to keep track of your HP, ability modifiers and inventory, but the game will tell the story and roll for enemies.

In this game, you take up a mission to investigate a mysterious figure who has taken an unnatural interest in the funeral of an old priest. You'll fight undead, break into tombs, and (hopefully) save the city!

Cute, but hard to figure out what exactly you're supposed to be doing.

Didn't work for Mac.

Haha! This is great! It sounds like she really got into it. And thanks for the show recommendation too.

The Saint's Tomb  is a hybrid of a choose-your-own adventure type computer game and a pen-and-paper roleplaying game. It is compatible with the fifth edition of the most popular tabletop roleplaying game in the world (you know the one, though I can't mention it due to trademark reasons).  The popular subreddit r/dndnext gave my game 4,700 upvotes and 12 awards.

In the game you make your own character using a website such as DnD Beyond, then go forth to investigate a mysterious figure who has a suspicious interest in the tomb of a dead priest. You'll battle the undead, figure out problems and roll the dice to save your city!
