We are speed running lol.

We focused a bit too much on the player but the stuff we learned while developing the character will make developing the boss 10 times easier (hopefully).

Bro went ahead and made sure to be the first. Thanks!

This is our current state :D

We are mostly done with the planning so starting from today we believe that a lot of progress will be made in the game itself.

I'll make sure to add our progress to our devlog each day!

Thank you so much for this detailed comment! We rushed this game for a jam, but since now we are done with it, we will publish an updated version soon :) We'll definitely keep in mind all the things you said!

(1 edit)

Haha thanks for the comment! We watched your stream and noticed a few things. Under normal circumstances, the bullets coming out of the Octorobot's arms should be much faster. Pressing L should kill Octorobot, all the playtesters confirmed this but for some reason it didn't work on your computer. So your stream was really valuable for us to address such issues :)
We also loved your energy!

For what is happening in the game, there are 3 types of enemies, 2 normal ones and 1 boss. If the normal ones have a purple colour, that means that when you kill them, they will drop a weapon that can be attached to an arm of the Octorobot. The goal is to kill as many purple enemies as you can to grow the Octorobot's arms as long as possible!

Again thank you for your comment and including us in your stream! Also, we are glad that you enjoyed Octorobot :)

Hah I like Mike.
I will definitely learn about procedural animations for the upcoming jams because it looks really good (at least from what I saw from your game).

Thanks for the explanation :)

I liked it a lot! Timing seems to be critical and I sucked lol. The animations were quite smooth (which is something that baffles my mind as to how to accomplish such animations) and the game feels like an actual complete game rather than a jam entry. Love it.
I wonder if your scientist "Mike" and our octopus who created his robot are the same Mikes :D

This is really well done! I like the art style a lot and the core mechanics are working really well. There is a lot of room for expansion, which is also really nice.
10/10 would be a gardenbot again :)

Yeah we actually planned a bunch of different weapons, some types that would increase the strength of an individual arm and bunch of other upgrades but time was limited as you said . Also, we suck at the game as well :)

Thanks for the comment!

Thank you!

This was really creative, I love the puns :)

THERE ARE ACHIEVEMENTS!?!?!?!??!?!

Thanks! The zoom actually decreases everytime you collect a weapon but yeah initial zoom might be a bit high. We might go back and tweak it after the jam :)

Thanks for the comment! We definitely could've added object pooling  to enemy and bullet spawning to fix the overload problem but it was a fairly new concept for us :) Will do much better in upcoming jams!

This is pure gold! I completely agree with UnPseudoTotalementNormal :)
