The most creative game on this jam IMO, Loved the mechanics, loved even more the cable ride, that one was a nice surprise, nice out-of-the-box thinking.

Even though I loved the cable ride mechanic, I did struggle a bit on it, also the head movement while on the floor, and throwing the head (movement in general) was not as smooth as I would have liked.

About controller scheme for keyboard, I didn't like the control schema u used for the head detach, F is too close to D and you have to move your both hands pretty close together, I recommend you use the more common schema which is WASD for movement and JKL for misc buttons, keeps your hands apart and feels nicer (Only when you don't need the mouse should use JKL)

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! i did not though of a JKL button scheme, but yeah that would have been better tbh

VERY cool game, great idea! I love pretty much everything about this. I really like the head animation, the sounds, music is really nice the puzzles are satisfying. The only constructive feedback I have is that I wish you could control direction/momentum while in the air, and that you slid less after you stopped holding the move button while you were just the head. Flying the cable as the little bot was really fun too. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm happy you liked the cabble robot :)

I really like the concept, I jumped out of this jam because of not being able to come up with anything fitting to the theme but this is head on... I don't know if that joke works.

I have sadly not been able to enjoy it too much because of the character movement. My main issue is the head just doing... things. But I don't know how you could've made it much better given that it gotta have that cube rolling thing. One thing you could've done is give some weighty midair control in the style of mario to the head, one that keeps your momentum if you do nothing but changes it when you move (can be a bit hard to implement different jumps when you start out, but learning which kinds of jumps you can make can be important).

I haven't gotten through the entire game (Level 12 was the last I played) so I don't know if you used it but I was interested in seeing the Robot and Heads different movements being used in level design. I feel the Head having a fixed jump height but with midair control while the robot has a controlled jump height could open up for some interesting levels.

I also gotta comment on the level design, I think their biggest issue is the difficulty curve though I'd say that's a bit out of scope for a beginner jam (and it is 1 am and I didn't finish the game so it is impossible for me to judge that). But a few levels also gave me a LevelDesignersFirstLevel-Feel, especially Level 11. Like I get the idea, but what is goin on with that upper layer of platforms, there's absolutely no need for that weird hole inside of them it just gets in the way of the main mechanic of the level: Bringing robot to left side so that he falls onto the switch after you fly through the level.

And about the look of the game I gotta say, the individual assets each look fine on their own but thrown together it is just extremely unfitting. It combines 3 styles of pixel each at a different resolution with mesh-cubes and dynamic lighting. But I still gotta put credit to the fact you managed to make the lighting effects and robot legs work (I haven't been able to do so yet), even if it doesn't look good right now it'll help you make things look good in the future.

And finally the sound design is just real good. Not perfect but it is some solid work.

Hope I haven't been too strict and written something that demotivates you. In the end it is a finished game and you should be proud of that.

Thanks for the long feedback, i really appreciate it.
I kinda understand how this game could have been better by reading all of these comments, as a beginner i'm still happy i did this but i do not want to stay a beginner so I appreciate these feedbacks to improve how i will make my games :)

You should absolutely be happy you did this. I was taking way too long to start my first project.

I could've made a first small game like 7 years ago, but I didn't. It would've made for a worse first game than my actual first game, but I would've improved far faster than I did when I only made incomplete learning projects.

So have fun finishing some games and improving.

Great game! :)

The soundtrack enhances the feeling of discovery and quriosity)

This game is honestly a good puzzle game, the only thing that needs improvemnt is allowing the head to have some ammount of air-control, otherwise there are no isues.

Developer

Thanks a lot!
Early in the developpement I had an idea of a very small dash in the air with the robot head, but then i though that you could probably cheese even more some puzzle, so i prefered not adding it. It probably wasn't the best decision, but i felt like the game movement still felt okay and the head jump was punishing but good enough :)

LOVED THE MECHANIC!

Great use of sound, too. Movement is very satisfying, juggling the head is great, Altogether an amazing effort! Cohesive artwork, for the most part (the entrances seem a little too dungeon-like)...
The soundtrack could be expanded, it got a little tiresome after a while.

I'm not too good at puzzle games, so maybe my taking too long in moving levels is to blame there!  I was more interested in seeing how well I could juggle my own head!

Really inspiring work! Thank you for sharing

Developer

Thank you so much :D
Yeeaaah there's only 2 music in the whole game but i really didn't wanted to spend too much times on sounds/music since we have so little time so it's repetitive but i feel like the sacrifice was worth it x)
The levels weren't that easy too so that's ok x)

Submitted(+1)

Definitely worth it! You nailed it! One of the most difficult things I find is being objective, and IMO you showed a great HEAD (pun intended!) for game making, planning and having the right priorities for what you wanted to accomplish!

One of my favourites so far, that last level was a doozy.

i like the idea and the mechanic is nicely implemented. Pretty fun!

Thanks for playing my game!

This game is pretty fun to play! The animations are really smooth and I liked the mechanic where you can eject your head.

Developer

Thanks for the compliment :)

Submitted(+1)

I liked it a lot! Timing seems to be critical and I sucked lol. The animations were quite smooth (which is something that baffles my mind as to how to accomplish such animations) and the game feels like an actual complete game rather than a jam entry. Love it.
I wonder if your scientist "Mike" and our octopus who created his robot are the same Mikes :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much !
Ahah my scientist named "Mike" is a little inside joke because in all of my games i try to keep them all connected, something like a marvel cinematic universe but just for my games, i just find it funny to do that x)

Also if you want to know a little bit more about the animations of the game... there is only 1 ! It's the little robot arm that goes up when you're in the air.
Everything else is just procedural animations, especially the robots leg which use Inversed Kinematics that i coded myself (that's why sometime the leg glitch weirdly if you stand on a ledge), so i really really appreciate the compliment :)

Submitted(+1)

Hah I like Mike.
I will definitely learn about procedural animations for the upcoming jams because it looks really good (at least from what I saw from your game).

Thanks for the explanation :)

Cool game, i love the idea! At some points I almost lost my head irl before making it to the goal, still had fun tho

Developer

Thank! do not perform head switch at home tho!

Love the Idea! Good job man!

Impressive idea!! Very funny when the head flies away

Developer

thanks! i like funny flying heads :)

Submitted(+1)

Really nice idea. Some of the levels are quite difficult because of the head physics. But overall fun game well done :)

Thanks a lot!

Very cool game! The mechanic of switching to different robot bodies made me laugh :)

I got stuck on level 8 for now but I will definitely come back to try again.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

This was really good! good mechanics, and usually I don't think I've spent more than half an hour playing any of these game jam games... until now. got stuck on level 15 because I couldn't figure out how to get enough head fling momentum to get back over the middle spikes and keep the switch down. I would love to see more in the future!

Thank you so much!
