I like your game ! It runs great and has good controls and mechanics, I also like how the game is literally on a pc. I like the idea and I haven't played a game in that pong like style in so long so it was kinda nostalgic. I like how at the end it goes wrong and i wasn't expecting the blocks to shift and not break. It was fun chaos lol. I suggest giving the option in the page editor on itch to enable full screen mode. It was funky having to scroll on the itch page to find the game folder on the in game pc.

That's a bummer. I feel like I would of done the same thing even if i exported before the deadline. We live and learn lol

I tried your game out and its a a great idea and works well. the load time was really long for both my laptop running linux and my PC running windows 10. It would almost fully load and sit for a few minutes. I thought it wouldn't load at first. I like the plot twists and surprise attacks. I genuinely laughed when I asked for help with the chores and got the opposite. Drinking the ale I did not expect a bear. Although I was more scared than I should of been from years of playing skyrim and how scary bears are in many games. the bear died fast with a few swings of my axe so more of a challenge would be fitting. The tasks don't always check off, the wall checked off one play through but not another despite me fixing the wall. checking the peremeter didn't check off for me even when i went around it 3 times. The dog food collects but when I approach the dog he just attacks me and I can't do anything but run. I also think its funny the child you adopt can follow you around and also see you take down a bear lol but I was kinda sad to realize it was all a lie when he/she becomes and enemy to stab me in the back. I think its funny the whole castle just bursts into flames when you try to go inside and sleep. Did not expect that lol. Good idea and definitely would be fun to play if some issues were fixed and some game play elements where completed. Good Job !

Especially for it being in 3D, I think that's cool!

That's an amazing idea! I didn't know anything about that jam. I'll try and give it a Go .    lol

:') Thank you for the encouragement and support, I'll definitely try your game and give some feedback :D  I'll post a link for my game here when I get it uploaded to itch.io properly. I'm currently researching how to upload html format.

As much as It sucks being making the mistake of not submitting my game earlier and updating it later, I'm glad I learned a lot and I'm really only bummed I couldn't participate in rating anyone's game :/ I'll still play a lot of them to see the amazing work everyone did this past week. I already have tried so many great games and I'm impressed. So I decided I want to keep learning and progressing. I will take 5 days to work on my game since I lost out on 5 days because of a issue with godot, windows and my graphics card not working well together for some reason :(  I had to make a lot of compromises on features and artwork I wanted to add to showcase what I do know and can do as well as challenge myself to learn even more. I also  want show my first dedicated project on my itch page as a game to look back and compare my future progress too. It's also a funny story that involved cooking breakfast tacos  made out of pancakes, meat, potatoes, onions, garlic, eggs and gravy at 2 in the morning.

I think the game currently is fun! It does have a parallax background loading lag. I loved the idea I came up with last minute, Playing as Skoll the wolf who chases the sun. I'll take this fail as a chance to develop the game even more and polish it up :D

Yeah, I learned my lesson and know how I can do better in future jams. I think I'll take the fail as a chance to take my game and really polish it. I loved my game idea, Nothing can go wrong; playing as Skoll the wolf who chases the sun.
ill be sure to post a link here when I get it uploaded :D

Next time I'll definitely submit my game when I have just a characterbody added. Lesson learned :P

I got my game finished and it froze during exporting. So I didn't get to export it until 10 minutes after submissions closed :( I had issues with my godot project on my windows pc and the whole program was unusable due to this screen flickering problem. So I had to quit and restart 5 days into the game jam and create a game on my laptop running linux. I was close but just a little behind trying to make the game usable with parallax layers (which I had to learn last minute on the spot to implement my game ideas required mechanic of the sun following the player for the chasing effect) My ultimate goal of this jam was to submit something and I failed. But I learned a lot and I'm happy with the progress I made these past few days. I will still release the game on my itch.io page as a funny story and a reminder of my first game jam :)

I can't wait until Brackey's next Game Jam, ill be more prepared and ready to show how much I will learn between now and then.

thank you Brackeys for teaching us so much with these last 3 tutorials, and good job to everyone who finished and submitted a game.

Heres the game, its very unpolished and has some issues currently with the parallax background I tried to setup

https://sk8tesprite.itch.io/chasing-sun

I'll give that a try after the jam, Thank You a lot for trying to help me out. The issue may be specific to me and my current pc setup or some setting i need to change. I'll figure it out later and maybe this topic may help someone else out with the same issue.

I forgot to mention the flashing and reset of selections happens in the project list menu as well, its also difficult to change any rendering settings in the main editor in project settings. I'll click on project then the drop down menu and it disappears when the program flashes. so a few tries and I can get into the settings if I'm lucky -_-  I did try the rendering options: compatibility and forward+  neither worked.

I'm on the stable 4.3 version for windows 10

Help! Currently every time i'm in the editor the screen flickers and unselects what i'm currently right clicking on if I am in a drop down menu, otherwise it'll flash from black to white in the corners of the window and makes it impossible to do anything. I'm using windows with a 1650 super, I updated my drivers to try and fix this issue but still persists. Godot works perfectly fine on my windows laptop and my linux thinkpad laptop. Godot worked fine on my main pc at the beginning of the jam, but now its become unusable. Might have to rebuild my game last minute on my laptop.

Hi everyone, this is my first official game jam. I am planning on creating a multi dimension game utilizing 2D, 3D and hopefully expanding into my idea of 4D... This is going to be a bit of a challenge since I haven't started the project yet as I spent a lot of time on idea brainstorming,  prototyping, Greyboxing and researching into my idea of how to create the feeling of 4D. I'm determined to create and submit something, I wont let this game jam pass me by.  I joined the Brackeys 2024 game jam but never submitted anything since I spent the whole week learning how to use Godot and how to draw and import my own assets. This jam my only goal is to submit something. I was so happy to see Brackeys posting on Youtube again and inspired me to make a huge push towards my game development goals and joining one of his jams. So with a lot of determination and coffee - I'll complete this adventure  :D
